Very bad ,as others said it won t be easy to prove it and an other thing the guy was lucky that you put the watch back to the box instead of your wrist if you would do that with the fake you would immediatelly notice the difference since the fake wasn t sized properly i guess.

Sorry this happened to you. He gave you money to hold on to, to give you some confidence, then went out to the truck. Hindsight is 20/20, but once he walked out the door, the deal should be done. No take-backs. Anyone with a quick hand can switch watches on you. They distract you one way or another and make the switch. Hope others learn from this. And I truly hope you get your watch back.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I bet there are quite a few people in the Southeast right now who are either wearing or storing fake Rolexes without a clue that they've been robbed.

wow. really sorry to hear this. quite an elaborate ruse. hopefully the phone number/emails may be helpful to the police, though given the planning that appears to have gone into this I guess he used burners for everything.

PM me the telephone number. I know this may be a REALLY REALLY long shot - But there are a few things that I can do on my database if the phone number ever touched the AT&T network including burner AT&T phones (and MVNO) phones.

Wow! If this d!ck put half as much thought, time, and energy into a legitimate job instead of focusing on ripping people off, he'd be very successful in life. I'm not a violent man by nature, but I only hope that one day he does it to the wrong person who catches him in the act. A little mob justice with a 2X4 will get him back on the right path.....at least I hope!

You didn't smell a rat at any time as he gave you the money then comes back from car and says I need to see another watch locally can I have my money back? I know it's hindsight but a quick check of the watch before handing money over would have resulted in two things:
1. You confronting him but you're still holding a fake watch he has real one could have ended nasty if escalated.
2. You confront him decide to call police he takes his money forcefully and your watch and who knows what else he would do once trapped in the situation

Either way your ok that's main thing when you think of what else potentially could have happened from an escalated situation. Others will also learn from this so thank you for bravely posting - we all have your back and hope justice prevails.

Really unfortunate news, I'm sorry you had to go through this.

A story I know, a watch was stolen, possibly passed to an associate or another gang member involved in the scam and was sold to a local jewellers where it was retrieved by the owner.

Note, check all local jewellers & pawn shops as most likely it will be sold very quickly.

Hopefully soon it will be good news & having the culprit on CCTV will certainly help!

Really sorry to read this...I agree with what Dera has posted. Personally I would just file a claim and move on. Most likely he will not get caught. File the info with Rolex and hope for the best but expect the worst. At the end of the day, he got your watch, but you were unharmed. I have read stories here and other fora where people were physically injured when robbed. I know it's hard, but also look at the positives here.
