Do you buy or lease your vehicle?
I always bought my cars. But I did a lot of driving for work and I would’ve blown through any mileage limits. No longer the case.
My last two cars were Honda Accords. I paid cash, $20Kish, then kept them for ten years each. But the tech in my ‘08 Accord is from the stone ages. I don’t think that I want to keep a car too long again. What does this group do? Buy or lease? |

Both, it just depends. If I pick up a model year that's is a mid-life-refresh, then I usually lease. Because not more than a few years later, an iterative, and much improved version is released. If it's first, or second year, of a new model, I usually finance. There's nothing worse than getting a new car and a year later (or even much less, like months) the new model comes out. Deprecation is extreme. Just my 3 cents.

I always buy new cars every 5 years or so. Usually small cars. I now have a 2017 Mazda 2.

I like to buy used (let some other sucker take the initial hit) and I like to keep cars for a long time.
If you want a new luxury car and only plan on keeping it for a couple of years, leasing is usually the way to go. |

We buy. Last two vehicles were brand new for wife and preowned for me. She doesn’t drive much (5-6k miles per year but we use hers for road trips) and wanted new for reliability’s sake. We don’t usually finance anything but we got a great deal at 0.9 apr for hers so took it. I go preowned 2-3 year models to save some and avoid depreciation, paid cash. I’m more of a ‘road warrior’ of about 15k miles per year, mainly highway. We have considered leasing at various points but always end up buying instead.

I leased my last one as I don’t put many miles on it and I don’t want the hassle or headaches of expensive repairs |

I lease mine and my wife’s daily drivers. I do have a summer car that I own. Just an FYI...you can be a high mileage driver and lease. Most leasing companies allow a lease to be customized with up to 25k per year in miles.

I lease. We have a 2014 Lexus IS250C for me; my wife downsized from a 2014 LS460 to a 2018 ES350. We are Lexus addicts and don't plan on changing brands anytime soon. We've had Lexi since 1990; until now they have always been the LS series, but my wife decided she no longer needs a big car. Both kids are in their 40's and the grandchildren fit nicely in the back seat of the 350.

I typically buy.
But I leased my RRS for tax purposes because I use it almost 100% for business. The AMG GTS I purcashed outright. I did the same for my wife’s C43 AMG. Something about having the title that gives me the warm and fuzzy.

Until this year I was doing early leases. Now, with a baby we figured we should buy two SUV’s. I hunted for a while for a deal on a Tahoe, bought a 17’ at a good price. Then about a month later a 13’ q5 with 20k popped up at the local Audi dealer. Bought it quickly. Both paid for cash. I kept thinking about all the nice watches I could have gotten instead

I'd get a Ford Raptor, maybe a 2019 except realistically the truck is too big (wide) to park in a lot of garages in San Francisco and it would be a source of annoyance and frustration due to that. If I end up getting it, it's going right to the shop to get rock sliders with removable steps installed. My wife is short |

Do you buy or lease your vehicle?
My TT is almost as old as some of the kids graduating nearby today.

We financed our daily cars and paid it off quick. But we are leasing the Lexus GX 460 since we aren’t sure if we want it long term. Gives us the option to get a new one. We got it 2 years ago before our 2nd child was born. Thinking of buying the next car next year.

I usually buy or finance, and have yet to lease. From a very young age my mom brainwashed me to think leasing is bad unless your company is leasing it for you. So personal lease has always been off the table for me.
We'll see with the next round. |

Currently on a lease for an EV.
Will probably lease again only if the monthly rates are attractive. |
