I would go with this range instead of just one year as well.

Maybe beginning a few years earlier than 1965 but that would be the general range.

If one is going to pick "one year" and not cheat with a range of years, that's a pretty good one.

IMO its a great year by pretty much any standard and as a bonus, it was right about the same year i discovered music for the first time.

Thats the year I went from listening to what my parents listened to, to listening to my own stuff.

1967. The Doors self titled, Sgt Peppers and Hendrix’s “Are You Experienced?” All in the span of just a couple months... could you imagine anything like that these days?

So many genres to choose - jazz, rock, folk, country, classical - I can’t think of a year that wasn’t great.

Too broad of a spectrum. I could probably find a great album for every year from the year I was born in 1971 to now.

The 90's and early 2000's had some low points but there are still some gems in there.

Obviously the late 60s and early 70s due to the political and cultural turmoil but a lot of our music “imprinting” basically has to do with puberty and our late teens.

Probably that way with every generation and it being “our” music.

Lin Manuel Miranda the writer and lyricist of Hamilton and In The Heights wrote these musicals later on in his late 20s and through his 30s but his influences were what he was influenced by as a teenager. Those years really do “form” us.

I must admit a fondness of the late sixties and early '70s.

Throw in Jefferson Airplane , Eric Burdon and the Animals, Big brother and the Holding Company, The Byrds 1967 was a great year for music.......
I wish history would repeat but im afraid its gone for good.

How could I forget Traffic's Low Spark of High Heeled Boys from the 71 list ....I wore out 2 8-track tapes of that one.

The late 60s to early 70s was a great time for music. I was lucky to be growing up and into music during that period.

The sound tracks of my life.

me too... then you have got 1994 which was another excellent year and you get the first mainstream appearance of Dave Matthews Band. PJ and DMB are the only concerts i still go to today. Probably about 80 some shows between the two and got a couple more coming up in the next month

Tough to answer that. Been many individual years that have produced some great music. The Stones 70's work from Sticky Fingers to Some Girls was iconic.
