PAM 000 Question - Why....?

Why does OP not make an auto version of the PAM000, manual is a PIA IMHO, I never know if its the right time or if I forgot to wind in time, etc. I essentially need to 'double check' the time...

Anyone else feel the same? I love the watch but am afraid ill flip because of this...

Think OP will do an auto version, or will it be insanely thick (IE PAM312)?

I mean... the reason why I bought a winder is so I dont have to do this :(

I enjoy manual winds... there's a deeper connection for me. I just top it off every morning no problems.

Not an issue for me. I love winding my 112 and prefer a manual wind PAM.

I think the OP makes a good point though. Folks can get busy/distracted and forget to wind. You then have to do a double check to make sure the time is right.

I'd flip the zero and get the 111. That will solve your problem...

I love my 111 and getting to wind it for me is the best part of owning it!

Since I rotate watches and I don't use watchwinders it don't really matter.

Winding and setting a watch is a part of my early morning routine, and a very enjoyable part of my daily routine to boot.

i have been wearing automatic watches for the past 10 years and have been winding them every morning. Similar to others it is part of the daily routine of preparation for the cruel harsh world outside.

Surely you bought a 000 purely because of its DNA/tradition/history?

Like [almost] everyone else, I'm a hand-wound guy. My automatic Mühle is the first to stop as it only has a 48hr reserve (and I don't own a winder) and my 233 never stops because I wind it every Sunday evening...

Sorry to say, but it doesn't sound like the historic line is for you.

Manual winds are part of simple Panerai's.

It is a matter of habit winding your PAM000 on a daily basis. You will enjoy it even more

Will, I can almost promise you that if you keep the 000 for awhile, you actually start looking forward to winding it and well might start doing it a few times a day, not because you have to but because you want to. Once you get into it, it's actually quite a "feel good" thing.
In a way, it's almost like having a standard and being able to interact with your toy on a deeper level. J

Winding doesn't bother me, either, but if its not working for you maybe go with a 104. Similar size & luminor case. I'd skip the 312, tried it on about 8 times now but still too blocky for me.

I think his suggestion on the 111 is because the second hand on the 111 is easier to check if its working.

When it comes to Panerai, IMO I really think it should be manual since it is their DNA... as for me, I am not really digging automatic movement in Panerai...

Spot on.

Just saves you from listening to it or checking it twice. I am aware they have the same PR.

Or... move the zero on and get an 8 day. I can not tell you how practical it is and how well it works. I would take an 8 day over an auto any day.

i have plenty of automatics and only my pam000, 233, moonwatch, are manual winds. I absolutely love manual winding them and it gives me great satisfaction doing so. i do not however, like winding my automatics.

Agree, winding is part of the appeal, in the same way people buy manual cars over automatics. Deeper connection I think.

Funny, but Panerai turns my usual preference upside-down...

Manual wind, no date, no minute markers, etc...

These days, I see Panerai as a simple, relaxed and refreshing break from other watches... the horological equivalent of a quiet weekend in the country (?!?)

"winding" a 372 is totally different experience from winding a 000. One have to try it to understand what I mean. If you no like winding, don't pass on the 372. You might think differently after you give it a try.

Cheers! James.
