Wow, I have never had such a universally positive reaction to any watch, ever!

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments.

I absolutely love this watch and have been wearing it all day.

I was actually super surprised how it hasn't gone stratospheric like the new versions, which I actually think aren't quite as nice.

I got for less than all those figures you quote. Yes, I was surprised too!

It seems to have gone under the radar by those chasing the new ones.

I will never sell it as it is so nice.

Sure, here's one I took earlier today. (The background is my iPad screen :) )

Obviously I'm biased but something tells me you haven't studied the new one so closely if you believe that.

Someday you'll see some comparison macros online that will change your mind. They have made a lot of improvements in the dials and the bezel numerals are done differently.

I also want to own this version so don't take that the wrong way. It's a killer watch.

I've not seen the new Meteorite Daytonas in real life, if that's what you mean. But I do have a brand new meteorite Platinum Day Date, and still prefer this old Daytona to that new model.

However, I do prefer having meteorite in the sub dials in particular, and also think the polished metal bezel works better with a meteroite dial. Just as it does on my platinum Day Date (i.e. compared to the fluted bezel on the white gold model).

i prefer your meteorite daytona to the newer versions; the splash of red on the chrono hand/sub registers makes it even more irresistible!

Beautiful watch, well done.

I was promised by my AD (Prague) that i will be one of the first to get a WG OF Meteorite. I was really excited until i discovered they sell all the hot pieces through the back door to the gray market. They sold two rainbows, 1 Eye of the Tiger and at least one SS Ceramic Daytona and 1 BLRO directly to a dealer in Austria. I know because said dealer offers them to me. Rolex HQ is aware because it was reported by other collectors but they still have their license.

And this was supposed to be the better one of the two Rolex ADs we have in Prague.

Thanks so much guys :)

sski, I agree 100%. Not that I would turn down the new one if my AD offered me it too :)

Joejet, it's definitely one to grab whilst there are still a few on sale. I think many of those chasing the new ones don't even know this one exists yet.

Thanks all

I took a very close up macro of the dial in bright direct sunlight yesterday. This is a 1:1 shot.

At this level it's really quite stunning how the meteorite splits out the light wavelengths.
