That so called Platona, they did not even bother photoshopping the Reference #, as I highly doubt they will release a quick change system for this particular watch.
Totally agree! Those crappy catalogue photoshop are a bit boring at last …

Whatever they do you have to wonder how hard it must be to design based on sales these days. They had a run where everything sold because it was a Rolex and people got into the hype. There are very few that are worth that hype.

I just am excited to see what's new.

Unless these Daytona have a modified sub dial position they are fake. Regarding the meteorite that’s what I heard. But I’m just a man with well
Positioned friends, though they might be mistaken !

Edit: these are fake IMO, Daytona is going to change caliber and be rolled to
12xxxx

Definitely agree with you on these so called leaks, I mean photo shopped fakes

But back to this sub dial statement, come on Henri tell us more. Are we looking at the Tudor layout? I had a Tudor Chrono, the Tiger Woods model in blue. Liked it but it didnt last.

I don't speak for Henry but I can't see Rolex doing that tbh. The dial is just way too busy on that Tudor and Rolex would be ruining their unicorn if they did 3 subdials and a date window with a cyclops. Now a bicompax with a big date like A.Lange Datograph, that would be amazing (chef's kiss)!

Agreed. Henri seems pretty adamant about his prediction but who knows. I just cant see it myself unless there will now be a Daytona and Daytona date.

Not to mention how would it look?

No sub dial at 6 leaving the others at 3 and 9? If so whats at 6?

Or going 6 9 and 12 like Tudor. If so whats at 3? And where does the Rolex crown go on the dial?

Just seems wild to me. Guess we all see in a few weeks. If we see anything at all. With the Daytona at least.

I personally like the time only setup as it is right now, so I hope they do not make any significant changes. One week to go!

I'm starting to think Rolex will go to 41mm, 4230 movement and MAYBE add a new color.

Other than that I doubt much will change.

This would be terrific news since in some countries, like in mine, the waiting lists for Daytona would open up.

Whatever happens, they’re shipping a boatload of them.

Rolex being a customer of my employer, I like to go and snoop around a little on their shipments.

Recent AD shipment: (1 particular AD) got between 15 and 20 Daytonas (I know the exact number). ”A few” black dial 116500s and a few white dials. The rest of the 15-20 were one of each of other variations like TT, Plat, etc.

I don’t know if this AD is somehow special but they sure get a lot of watches from Rolex. The biggest single delivery I’ve seen was over 225 watches, about half of which were the “hot steel” variety. I think the record was 10 DaytonaCs in white in a single hit. That’s just insane. Without or without new factories, they can definitely produce watches.

The Datejust and Daytona are the highest production references. Daytona's are not rare, just ultra high demand.

I've read that article on Quill&Pad earlier today.. I was shocked to find out the Daytona is produced in such high quantities.

I just talked to my AD a couple years ago. They get something like 100 Daytona per Milgauss. Waitlist for Daytona still 100x longer than Milgauss.

Last I heard they had no trouble selling the current Daytona. Why release a new model?

Meanwhile my A D who I have a very long relationship with, 10 years plus, 100k plus, tells me B S like “we get 2 black and 2 whites in SS each year”

And then I see a Google review of some guy posting a glorious review with pics on how he got his dream watch as his first, a black 500

Find another A D for a SS Daytona? Forget it. Did get offered a silver dial 519 a few weeks ago. Passed as I already have my favorite OF model. He was disappointed. Oh well not like I need another Daytona in my collection

Rolex isn't wasting time or money updating a watch selling this well. That is laughable.

It is change management. Evolution. Companies do that simply to maintain development, evolution, pace of the marketplace. Even more so if their current line up sells like crazy. Theynare planning two, three steps ahead.

As laughable as the idea that Rolex updates watches in order to make them sell better?

Using that logic there would have been no need for an update to anything in their catalogue other than the Cellini.
