Thats true for now. Oddly they are distinguishing a difference by noting what dial.

For example. I did a quick search just now over some of our trusted sellers that sell alot of Rolex models. Here is how one is listed...
A Brand New in Box (AD Removed Stickers) & Beautiful New Model 50th Anniversary 43mm Rolex Sd43 126600 Seadweller Ceramic Bezel with A Red Line Sea-Dweller Text Mark 1 Dial, Stainless Steel in Random Serial. Purchased from Rolex Authorized Dealer on 09.2018.

On a different topic, I also noticed from our trusted sellers that a lot of Hulk and Batmans came in from somewhere?? Used and 2018 new. Also alot of Daytona 116500LN showing up.

I have the MK1. That’s just because I got the watch in 2017.

For what it’s worth, I bought Mk1 dial SD43 two weeks ago for my brother from an AD just delivered that morning, so MK1 dials are still being delivered.

Font on the # “l” is different than the #“1” on the MK2.

Can’t go wrong with either but I would go for the MK1 myself.

I guess the MK1 sort of denotes it as THE anniversary edition, so if I had to chose I'd go with that. However if I were looking for one and only the MK2 was available I certainly wouldn't turn it down.

Why is the DD40 even being mentioned. It’s a very annoying comparison to make. Kind of like comparing lions and bears. You can’t compare because they are totally different

I have a MK1, but I really don't care much, both dials are great.
Maybe in 30 years it can make a difference, but not on short term.

The speculator in me says mk1 has more potential to grow being the "true" anniversary edition.

The enthusiast says "meh, who cares", I would still pick mk2 or whichever iteration if mk1 is no longer available.

My thought exactly. This watch is a keeper and MK1 is nicely noted that it is the true 50th anniversary.

I am just happy to have my watch. It happens to be a Mark I dial, even though I got it in April of this year.

Basically the so-called MKI are just old stock. Similar design to current other models like sub.

After all current stockes have depleted, I believe all models will carry the additional coronet printing.

the fact is, now people still get the mark I dial from AD. talking of the mark I dial signifies true 50th anniversary is just pure speculation.

Sadly I have to agree my 16750 would be worth 5 k more with another dial

MKII dial has been captured on DSSD in another thread.

Which in sync with post above, we shall expect MKI and MKII dials to appear on more and more models other than SD43.

The dials May be old stock, but SD43 watches with the Mk I dials were still being delivered as of three weeks ago. As I said above I bought a SD43 with MK I dial from an AD 3 weeks ago that had just been delivered that morning.

Does anyone know when ROLEX will stop production of SD43 anniversary edition ? Is this really a limited edition or an ongoing production ?

The fact that MK1 dials are still being delivered nearly a whole 2 years after release I think is evidence of an artificially constrained supply chain. Have Rolex really been holding stock back on purpose...?

It is evidence that they simply store the dials in a Kardex storage system waiting to be fitted as and when it’s time. A 3235 movement could end up as one of many models based on the needs and whims of RWC.

Since a dial is not a perishable item it is likely there is no stock rotation in place and it is a last in first out system meaning there could be plenty of mk1 dials waiting behind more recently produced mk2 dials. The people that work in the materials department are unlikely to care what dial they pick in what order, so they will take the one at the front/top.

mk1 in Asia

Let me update the Asia market for mk1 and mk2 so far. In Taiwan, HK or Japan. It's more difficult to fine mk1 than mk2 recently. The price has been risen more than 10% in past 3 weeks and overall more 20% during 4 months. I have deeply searched the watch dealers all over Tokyo and Osaka. Only can get 3 of mk1. The answer is the price of mk1 is already higher than mk2 a lot in Asia.

Very interesting, thanks for the update. This price difference doesn't seem to appear in the European market at the moment.
