What To Get For Your 50th?

I know I’m in the minority, but I really don’t like the huge day window at the top of the dial on the DD. I feel like the DJ gives the same vibe, but with a much cleaner dial.

I had my 50th in August. My wife got me a Panerai 1342 and my mother got me a Bronzo! What a day!

Umm...I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever heard the day window referred to as 'huge.'

Regardless, it's your birthday, so, your choice.

But, since you asked....there's no way in hell I would celebrate a milestone birthday with a DJ.

It’s good but I’m trying to think if there’s anywhere I can wear it without getting robbed (besides my house).

A sad state of affairs these days.

Mine was last year. Started looking when I turned 49. I got the call for a no date Submariner 4 months after my birthday and had to decline. I got the Omega Planet Ocean on my birthday. I have really enjoyed it. No regrets. Maybe a Rolex for when I retire in a couple of years.

Awesome. I have an orange PO…it was my first Omega. Absolutely love it.

SD43 or SD50 as some like to call it, if you've got the wrist for it.

or the 126334 Datejust, also w/ the blue dial. (I like blue dials)

Fortunately, my birthday is later in the year, so I have a little time to find one. I guess I'll just see how much I have saved by then, which will determine which one I get, lol!
I've been thinking the same thing.

well i planned ahead for my 50th which is at the end of may this year and put my name down for an FP Journe 2 years ago, unfortunately they have pulled the plug on the uk dealer so thats a no go now! So i switched to a BLNR or a BLRO, i got the BLRO in January so a bit too early for my 50th, bought it for myself instead, at my other local AD i had requested an air king for my 50th, again that came in within a couple of weeks so again i bought it for myself, Plan D was a speedmaster but i have switched that to the new Tudor black bay 41mm, in lieu of the FPJ i have joined a probably extensive list for a Patek, we shall see!

2 x 50th birthday watches... (so far)

Blue dial SD 326934 would be a great choice.

I asked my local AD for a white dial Daytona for my 50th. I was told not likely but, maybe a 126610lv (ceramic green sub). I’m considering gray market for my Daytona. They have done a good job in the past getting me watches so no hard feelings but, I was sort of set on that for my 50th.

If it’s an older or super hype model, I’d go grey and get what you want. No reason playing the “hope and see” game.

DD40 or Daytona is the right call.
