Trading a 116509 for a 116519?

Hi,

My AD really surprised me and offered a 116519 grey panda dial! I was on the wait but hadn’t expected it so quickly and also just one week before W&W…….

I am really tempted but I would have to trade in my 116509, also grey dial.

My biggest concern is if I get along with the Oysterflex, some love it, some don’t…

I am a bit lost and really don’t know if I should do it. 116519 looks gorgeous with the ceramic bezel but full pm is also pretty exciting!

Any thoughts from you guys?

Thanks!

If you have a 116509 would rather keep that one; you can buy an OF for it and have best of both worlds

I love my 116519 OF. It is one I would not part with. My issue with metal Daytona bezels are that they are scratch magnets. You don't have to worry about that with the ceramic bezels.

That’s a super tough call. Both are fantastic watches! I just got my RG 116515 and I’m loving the oysterflex so far. If you want a slightly sportier, lighter wearing daily watch, go for the OF 19. Since wearing mine with the ceramic bezel I will admit that I worry less about scratches and little dings.

However just putting an OF bracelet on the 09 isn’t exactly the same effect. It’s the ceramic in my opinion that justifies the combo with oysterflex, it sets it apart. Both have their place in my mind. As long as I had other watches to grab from I would make the swap. It’s part of a collection, but not the main show. If my collection were smaller, comprised of really select choices then I would keep the full PM Daytona for now and add later.

to me personally the choice between 116509/116519 primarily boils down to whether you like the mix of ceramic bezel, not the oysterflex. Most prefer the latter where the dark bezel provides a very nice visual contrast against the WG, which I do find very sexy as well.

I too own a 509 in the steel color dial, the look is certainly plain compared to the 519, but there's enough in the WG shine with full bracelet that keeps me happy.... Are you getting some money back if go through with the trade? Thought the 116509 commands a much higher price, if this is retail we are talking about

I'd keep the '09 - at least not buy something before announcements next week

Keep the 509, although i have a 518 and I loved it, I would not go down to oysterflex for the 519.

But if you have the $, then why not get both. Daytona don't come around easy if it is from the AD.

How does this work? I was under the impression you can't retrofit a 116509 to get an OF bracelet on it. Something with the end links...?

I own a 519 and I stay keep your 509.

OF is nice and works in a 5+ watch collection, but generally speaking, full bracelet > OF.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Really helpful and tend to keep the 509. Have already a 500, so ceramic is already in the house, will send a photo later.

But it least I will try the 519 at my AD and make then a final decision.

Thanks!

Thanks for all these your feedback, really helpful!

I also own a 500, so ceramic is already in the house! Tend to keep the 509, but will try the 519 and see how the oysterflex works on my wrist.

How long does one wait for an PM OF Daytona these days? Is it as crazy as the SS version?

Do it if you like it better and you’ll love looking at it on your wrist more than the 509. The 519 is very comfortable in my personal experience with it.

I would keep what you have, buy a rubber strap and move on.

I had the same dilemma but with yellow gold. I opted for OF, 1) more sporty 2) less flashy 3) lighter wearing daily watch and 4) less worrying about scratches and dings. Go for what suits your lifestyle.

Thanks again and yes, agree, finally boils down what I really want!

Ideally, I would like to own all 3! Let’s see, I have time to make a final decision until next week.

BTW: wait for this one was just a few months

Since you already have the steel I’d keep the full WG as you have the ceramic bezel for daily and the WG for dressy.

No way I'd trade a full PM watch for one on OF.

My thought. If you 'have' to trade your 509, then it's no bueno.

If keep what you have and add an oyster flex strap to one of your watches.
