Should I flip my Black SubC for a Green SubC?

I know that there already are many threads on this very topic as I have been browsing through the forum for any threads related to the 116610LV, but I am still undecided.

I have recently added a 116610LN to my collection and planned on wearing it as a daily watch for work, but could not get my mind off of the LVc after seeing beautiful pictures of the LVc on this very forum. Since I plan on wearing it as a daily watch for the near future, I'd like something that is versatile, and yet has some flavor to it so that I'd be reminded of its beauty every time I check the time. Don't get me wrong - I think the black sub is beautiful, but after seeing the LV, I can't help but think that it lacks a bit of flavor.

So my question is: do you guys think that it's worth the additional $1000 or so to flip my LN for a used LV? and why is the price difference between used LVs and LNs greater than the retail price difference?

Thanks!

I loved my Hulk and much prefer it to the black models. Just depends if you want to stand out a bit, or fit in with everyone else.

I've owned both. And I enjoyed both.

The LV (Hulk) never leaves my mind. I picked up a ND Sub and I'm currently procuring a Hulk because it simply is the watch you always go back to.

I wouldn't. I've seen too many posts of folks flipping these. Now, nothing statistical here, just an opinion.

I'm leaning towards flipping the LN for a LV. I am, however, a bit thrown off by the price difference between used LNs and LVs.

I understand that it's simply a matter of basic economics, but it is surprising to see that there's almost a $1000 price difference between two watches that are exactly identical except the color. Is the demand just that greater? or is it the limited supply that's driving the price up?

Didn't see this post when I was replying above.

You know what was so painful for me when buying my BLNR? $1500 price difference between it and the regular black GMT, just for half its bezel being blue.

That makes me feel better about the $1000 price difference!

See the above comments so far. This should show you why.

The green sub is something that one has to be warmed up to... I didn't like it at all before, and if I were in a shop buying my first Rolex, 99.9% wouldn't be a green sub.

But after being with the Rolex family for a while, and acquiring the taste of the green sub, it seems many people would indeed be open to a flip of black to green. Higher demand for used green, vs. used black.

If the green is something you like that much, go for it. It is worth $1000 to just go with what your heart desires the most.

I looked at the green Sub on the strong recommendation of a trusted AD salesperson. Just didn't click for me, but I'm very conservative.

Do it. Hulk > LN. There are some models that are just special and hulk qualifies as one of them

Clearly the Hulk is better and ... faster.

But, seriously, depends on your daily outfit and job. The black is clasic and goes with everything.
I have a nice datejust 41 for that purpose. The Hulk is for more casual days for me.

The hulk is amazing. I love it for the daily watch. I drool over the black, but I'm not parting with the hulk.

Wow, I have an older 16610 and a 5513. I love the way they wear and lay on my wrist. I keep coming back to the Hulk, but then start thinking about the 5 digit Kermit...damn, they're both good looking timepieces! Their will be one of those two in my near future!

I own both. If I could only have one the Hulk would go, sorry for me the Sub date is just the quintessential Rolex in my warped mind.

If the green speaks to you in your dreams then maybe that's the one. That's what happened to me and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I think the magic is in the unique sunray dial which is made by Rolex with a combination yellow gold & aluminum. The color changes continuously depending on lighting. It does wear louder than the black and will draw more attention. Hard to get from an AD and it tends to hold value better due to ongoing demand. Good luck and Cheers!

I've never been attracted to a novelty colorway, but this is not some difficult question. If you like green, go ahead.

Ditch the Hulk, the LN stays. The green color on the sub makes it look like a Swatch watch of my 15 y/o son..
