A Greeting and a Request of Advice
Good afternoon, fine people!
I have been lurking in this forum and several others for a little while and thought to register… finally! Most of the posts I’ve read are older, and as we should all know the market for pretty much everything has changed drastically over the past couple years. I am looking to acquire my first Rolex sometime in the next year, pending some self-imposed requirements. I am an accountant and at this point in my career I feel like this would be a good investment, for personal reasons. I’m looking in particular at Submariner references 126613LB and 126610LN, I’m a little torn whether I like the gold or not, and that is something to be determined. I’ve also looked at Datejust, which is certainly an option. My question though, assuming I am going the new route here, what is the best way to go about acquiring one of these? I know acquisition can be difficult and was hoping there might be some pointers you all might have, considering you all are much more experienced than I am in this. |

Welcome to the forum.
I’d start by seeing if there’s an AD with some display models (or you never know maybe inventory), that you can try on. Two tone will wear differently than SS. Good luck |

The 126613 has historically been easier to get from an AD for most that I’ve seen here. As an accountant I’m a little surprised you would consider a watch an investment?

Welcome to the Forum. You can not go wrong with a Submariner in any metal. With that said I would go for the SS Submariner as it is a true Icon in the watch world and could serve you well over the years. It is understated without the gold and yet still conveys the do anything, go anywhere qualities I like about Sport Model Rolex watches. Go into an AD and try both the TT and the SS models on. If the wait is too long then look to our Trusted Sellers and pick the watch up there. Prices have adjusted downward and you can find some fair deals once you adjust for msrp and taxes. Plus you can get it now instead of playing the AD games. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

From South Detroit....
Hi Michigan (from Canada)
A friend of mine with no AD history is looking for a SS Sub and I suggested he ask a few AD's, but if he can't find one, look for a vintage example with a meaningful date (wedding, birthdate, etc) |

Welcome neighbor. Do the same as you did here. Walk in, tell them your story, and see how they respond. Repeat at the next AD until you get your watch. Good luck!
