I have a Rolex SubC (1.5 years old), and I noticed that the date change from "30" to "31" occurred not at midnight, but at noon. Prior to this, the date changed appropriately every day of the month. Otherwise, it's been keeping excellent time and everything seems to be working well.

Any thoughts?

Your last thread was closed because I think the mods thought you were tolling. Since you opened it up again I'll assume you're genuinely confused.

Your watch time is 12 hours off --- When its noon, the watch thinks its midnight and when it's midnight your watch thinks its noon.

Advance the watch 12 hours and your problem will be solved.

Actually, I'm being serious.

What I mean is this: For the past month, my watch's date was changing appropriately and as expected at midnight. However, I noticed that the date change from 30 to 31 today did not occur at midnight, but at 12 noon. That is, there was a discrepancy in the date change.

Pull the crown out to the time winding position, and advance it forward to see when the date is changing. If it changes at midnight, you probably just mistook the time it changed at noon. And if it changes at noon, then you either set it incorrectly, or it died for exactly 12 hours.

Thanks for your insight. I know it didn't die for 12 hours because I wear it daily for at least 10+ hours. I'm fairly certain that the time did change at noon, so I guess I just may have set it incorrectly? Although I highly doubt that I didn't notice the error all month?

Sounds like you just need to move the watch forward or back by 12 hours depending on when you are changing the time...

Sometimes we get used to what we expect to see..

Mechanically, the hands, gears and springs are fixed to activate once each 24 hours. It isn't possible for them to slip or jump exactly 12 hours.

My wife does this all the time. Just set it 12 hours ahead. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I have no dates on most of my watches.

Missing time and/or time slippage.

Have you seen any little green men recently? Those interstellar jump drives play havoc with the Parachrom Blue Hairspring I’m told.

On a serious note, it’s got to be a case of mis-set time by 12 hours. Can’t see it being anything else.
