M5 yes. M3....eeehhhh.
By the time that F10 M5 makes it here it may be anticlimactic, I have been waiting too long! I am a fan of forced induction though!!!! Fun times ahead. |

I can't afford either of them, but I look forward to the jealousy I'll feel when I see others driving them.
I still love the E46 M3. |

I'm looking, but I ain't buying. So expensive over here in Australia, a new M3 is close to AU$150k, and with the current exchange rate, it's around US$155k.

I currently drive an M3.
Love the V8 - it's a lightweight high revving out of this world engine... Not sure about the idea of a 3 pot turbo as rumored for the new M3 and a return to the 6 cil...I presume it's a straight 6...BMW should not attempt a V6 as far as I hear and understand?? M5s are next for me.....another 10-15 years :)

I'm awaiting the new F80/F82 M3 with great interest. I'm really hoping the move to forced induction doesn't compromise too much on the character of the traditional high revving engines.
The E46 version is my daily driver. I've had it for almost 9 years and it still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. The new M3 is what I'm eyeing as its potential replacement, so I'm praying it doesn't turn out to be BMW's version of the Sky Dweller! (ie keen, saliva inducing anticipation followed by a sense of bewildered deflation, for me at least. No offense Sky Dweller lovers!). |

I'd look forward to that too if I was in the market for one. Yikes.

Im very interested in the upcoming M3. What to know more about the new I6 with twin turbos and an electric S/C. Want to know if any of these parts will be transferable to my TT N54 powered car. If not, it doesnt matter. Im curious as hell to see this new fangled M3 coming up.

I'll wait a couple of years for the mid-cycle update. I'll let BMW work out the kinks before picking one up. I'm a huge fan of ///M5s and lucky to have three generations, e28, e39, and e60. There is quite a bit of discussion over at m5board about the release.
Until then, I'll be enjoying my e60 m5 6speed... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1338772416.429841.jpg And continue bang her off the curbs at the track... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1338772506.999033.jpg I love having a "practical" 200+ mph four door family sedan to haul kids and clients as my daily driver. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The spirit of BMW M is long gone. Their market is for people who want power and luxury. I am a E30, E36 M3 purist. E46's are ok, but they lack the "feel" for the road like its predecessors.
I still have my 95 E36 M3 and love driving it. |

Even WHEN they get the kinks out of the F10, no go for me.. No v10, no care ;) Besides when I need TT's I hop in my GT2! Worst mistake was adding forced induction to the iconic M platform

The new M5 is bested by both the E63 and S6 in C&D's comparo. Check out the July issue. The E39 M5 was the best car ever built by BMW (or anyone else, for that matter). It's been downhill from there, unfortunately.

Unless you track the car, you'll never get anywhere near the style of driving these cars were designed for in the states.. Just get a sharp looking car that gets 40mpg.. How often do you drive long distances at 100mph+ in the states? I do it daily in Germany, which is why I have a B8 S4.
Whenever I do return to the US, the S4 will be sold locally and I'll purchase an auto in the US that's a fairly quick, modern design, and still gets 35+mpg on the highway while I'm tooling along doing 65mph or sitting in traffic. This is why Audi is so reluctant to send their RS line to the USA. Simply no need for it unless you're having an inferiority complex. BMW interiors are still junk for the amount of coin you'll spend - my wife has a 5 series wagon and the fit, finish, and materials aren't anywhere close to my Audi. |

Go figure, all us Americans with fast sports cars have been doing it wrong for many decades. We should all sell them for Civics. I guess so have all the owners of fast cars all over the world who dont have autobahns. We cant possibly enjoy them without the sacred German roads.

Yes, thank you!
Don't worry I'm an American too - living in Germany for the past several years has influenced my opinion of many things and probably made me a bit more practical about a few things that I wasn't so practical about when I lived in NoVA. |

Here here for the E36 M3. Mine was a '95 (Cosmos). Then I transitioned into a couple of E46 M3s (Carbon black and now Mystic blue). The M36 was an awesome track car.
However, I think I am done, since I can't see myself with a V8 or a turbo. I am switching to an older Porsche next. |

I have a plain old 530i and I couldn't imagine needing something faster on the east coast. I work with a lot of guys who drive M3's, 911's, RS4's, and I don't know where they get to drive them.

I to live on the East coast(Long Island). I own a 600+hp Corvette and a 300+hp BMW. I find many places here to stretch their legs, safely. Along with nearby tracks

I can relate as well.. M5 has about 550 right now and GT2 over 700 hp and torque lol... I can't imagine having anything LESS than 500 now a day's ;) In NY I get to use their power all of the time in the back roads of LI at night, etc... In FLA? Not so much, plus it's boring, just flat straight land... I'm a huge track guy however, that's where I get the most fun in and my thrills.... |

Costs 8 people max of $AUD 100 each to hire a track here for the day.
We have exceptional roads across WA. The V8 in the current E92 M3 is noted by many as the best V8 engine made in a production road car. It is light, high revving (which is outstanding) and the M3 is flat out one of the best handling cars I have driven. I used to drive the metropolitan police forces high end pursuit cars and this would be my choice. Will the new M3 with a rumored 3 SCROLL turbos be better ....and even a V6 from BMW...be better..? Well who knows. But it will develop more power. Just as the new V8 2 pot turbo M5 does over the V10. And it is phenomenal!! In 2012 (luckily I picked my M3 up from a collector with low kms for an incredibly low price. I could not justify these "new" prices: The newest 335i costs little over AUD$ 100,000 here. A new E92 M3 will cost around AUD$180-190,000! That's almost double the 335i.. There's a reason for that. The new 335i is an exceptional car. 8 speed rapid transmission. Powerful straight 6 with a couple of turbos. Well kitted out in the sports package. well refined. The M3 ...well.....there's a reason it costs so much more. With the press of the M button you are transported into an absolute marvel of engineering. Not to ever be underestimated. Economy is awful. And in the end that'll be a killer for me. I like to drive my cars every day. And do track work and long distance country driving in the M3 otherwise what the hell is the point of owning one. I will be test driving the new one in 2013/2014. If the shift has the same impact as the new M5...... Well..... It'll be a phenomenal car!! Here's a pic of my 2008 E92.... Love it!

Once you own a super fast car you will make connections with various car clubs and do multiple fun runs on a monthly basis at Autobahn speeds.
There are hundreds of safe non traveled routes that are driven in the early am before everyone wakes up. Never a ticket in the past 10 years. Cannot wait for the new M5. My next car will prob be the 991 twin turbo in 3 years. |
