FYI, the Craziness has Reached God's Country

I live pretty close to heaven, in the Finger Lakes. I never thought the Rolex anti-flipping maneuvers would reach here. Sadly, this weekend I was proved wrong when I picked up a TT DJ with a champagne dial and diamond markers (. . . almost as hot as "the Hulk," but not quite). The AD insisted on removing the stickers, explicitly because, "Rolex now requires us to, no exceptions." I asked why, and was told because they want to stop flippers. I looked the AD, feigned disappointed, and asked, "Really? Do you think I'm going to flip this one? Because resale on TT DJs is so hot?!" He laughed, and took them off. Luckily, there was no play for the warranty card. That came home with me too, but give them time . . . .

Just take a drive at speed around WGI, that'll cure things.

Bonus if you include the 'boot'. Real races include using the boot.

Waiting to see if my AD requests to take the stickers off my new Pepsi when it comes in. I had no problem keeping the stickers, warranty card, or anything else when I bought my BLNR last year.

Makes total sense. Everyone knows it’s impossible to sell a watch in the aftermarket if it doesn’t have stickers. This surely will bring down the grey dealers!

Oh yea. I have done that for 3 decades with various 911's. Just driving to the Glen is worth the trip.

Both sides are heavenly, especially viewed from the viaduct in winter.

Not crazy... regardless of how silly the reason Rolex may have given, Rolex sent a notice to all US dealers and they are playing by the rules. At the end of the day to the AD, its not worth losing AD status or a potential sales persons job over some plastic stickers IMO.

What exactly is the issue with the AD taking the stickers off, especially if you plan on keeping it?

I just don’t understand the fascination with stickers, on either side of the argument. It’s just wrapping!

We should just expect sticker removal now as a rule, no matter the model.

As long as the AD lets you see the stickers prior to removal, I agree. One member recently posted about being notified of a waitlisted incoming, and the AD had removed the stickers before he could inspect the piece. That's a bad practice, imo.

those waitlist watches run the risk of starting a riot if word gets out. Its like hot potato for the AD, and they want it gone immediately. Surprised they didn't tell him to drive past slowly so they could shove it through the car window on his way by.

Some other guy in another thread had to race there in his car from 100 miles away because the AD said he was going to put it in the window display if he didn't hurry

When the thread title said God’s Country, I thought for sure you were referring to Texas. The craziness has been going on there for awhile now. on the new watch by the way!

Just bought a Datejust Yesterday with the stickers still on. I guess this policy hasn’t hit Canada yet.

I really don’t care one way or the other. I just thought it was interesting that these “tactics“ have reached my little bit of heaven.

Those stickers are amazing. Does any other brand protect them like that? And has anyone ever scanned the QR code?

Love the Finger Lakes

I actually prefer that the AD take the stickers off in my presence! In my advancing age, without having my reading glasses on, I can’t tell you how many times I have missed those pesky little stickers on the bracelet which are near invisible!
