Value of Used Faded 16710 Bezels

Browsing at the classifieds here, I find some pepsi used faded bezels being offered for sale for up to $ 750 !! Can someone enlighten me as to what dictates the value of these bezels please ?

It’s a personal preference thing! Some like the bezel faded to match the age of a vintage or older watch!
To me personally I like vibrant colors! Hence going to the ceramic version of the Pepsi

I too have been surprised to see these faded inserts being offered at such prices

Previously, they've been around half that price (or not even)?

I was once looking to swap my insert out, but I realized I want my BLRO insert to fade only with the time the watch has been with me

Of course, but I am looking for reasons that would place such items at such a high premium over a new one.

Bezel inserts are around 75$ from Rolex and there are many way to artificially fade them, so if anyone pays crazy money for them they must be sixpence short of a shilling. And seeing the 16710 did not come out till 1988/9 would hardly call them vintage.

Reasons????

There are no valid reasons. Some folks with the money want to pay for the "look", nothing more.

Bezels can be chemically faded. Some people like to overpay to pose just because....

The older GMT bezels have serif fonts for the numbers. So if you have an older tritium model with a bezel that is completely destroyed, but want to replace it with a period correct bezel with natural patina to match your watch, that is where the market is. Mostly for vintage collectors trying salvage parts.

In the end, a sans serif bezel functions just as good as a serif bezel, but such details matter to crazy people.

I'd rather have the colors be vibrant. I guess the faded bezels are preferred by some people with vintage pieces as it has more of an aged patina as the watch. I'm sure there is more forced patina now from bleaching and chemicals since for some reason people seem willing to pay more.

With the new ceramic models going for almost $20K or twice retail list, Old faded bezels apparently have gone the same trend.

A fool and his money soon go separate ways.
The average Rolex owner would not know the difference between a $750 faded original and a $20 aftermarket.

Really? I’m pretty sure anyone with enough Money to buy a $1,000 Piece of Aluminum has enough Brains to research before buying.

Ha. Not even close. Think about all the rich kids that have been handed down their money. You actually think people like the Kardashians research before they buy??

I’ve read that anything older than 20-25 years “could be” considered vintage. The first 16710’s were introduced approximately 30 years ago. I’m curious to know how you define vintage. Thanks.

Do you think the Kardashians are smart enough to switch out the bezel?

I hung a few inserts on my garden plants before, but after 2 years there were not much fading (0) so took them back in. And because of the magpies too.

The original Pepsi is a beauty for sure. I meant the ceramic won’t fade and will keep its color over time while the 5 digit ones fade with time

I should calcify. I mean over time retaining its color. The original Pepsi has brighter colors yet they tend to fade while ceramic doesn’t
