New AP Diver release
Hey all - Happy Holidays,
I'm in the market for an AP Diver in steel. I've been eyeing this piece for a while and went yesterday to try it on. The dealer mentioned that he received a list from AP with a new reference for a diver model supposed to be released soon. He doesn't know when, perhaps at SIHH, or perhaps later. The reference listed was investigated by him and it seems the information he got back mention the new steel diver will have the open case back with a modification in the movement and slightly different seals for the crown and bezel crown. Has anyone got any more detailed information about this or have heard of this rumor before? I'm not sure if the AD was trying to steer me to a different model or was simply being frank. Thanks in advance... |

That should be an interesting addition to the Diver lineup. I only wish they also made a smaller Diver as well, suitable for guys with slim wrists. Make it ceramic too

Yes, the steel AP Diver will soon be fitted with a sapphire caseback.

I'm wondering if the ceramic bezels, found on the SEs, LEs and Novelities, will make their way down to the remaining models in the ROO portfolio? It certainly makes sense and will allow AP to raise their prices - common pricing strategy for many consumer goods products.

If the case-back were to be changed to clear (sapphire), the water resistance may have to be decreased from 300m to 100m. That may not be a good thing for a diver watch.
I think a ceramic bezel would be interesting to see. Sam |

I believe the ceramic diver is still 300m and it has a see through case back

The dealer emailed me and said they got the same reference in their list last year and AP said that it would be delayed, so he can't promise it's going to be released soon.
He did say that he doesn't anticipate it being LE. |
