15400 just back from AP service - 5711 comparison?
So I just got my 15400 back from AP service for its 3rd year warranty extension. Also had the polish done and the watch looks incredible. Putting it back on my wrist reminded me of what an incredible watch this is.
For those of you that own an 5711 or 5712 PP, is it really worth almost 3X the price for another stainless steel piece? Or is the RG 44 ROO a better option? Both appear to be around $35k. |

depends...
If you're comparing 44mm RG to 5711 or 5712 - really depends on what you're after? Looking to get into Patek? Both 5711 or 5712 are great choices especially coming from AP Looking to add a great companion to your 15400 - 44mm RG is a fantastic complimentary piece to the 15400. That would give to two great AP options for almost every occasion |

Who is paying $35k for a 5711? That's ridiculous. Compare the 5711 to the 15202. Both are harder to get and $22k for the original Genta (AP) vs $24k for the 2nd version (Patek) isn't that big of a deal price wise.
I wouldn't compare the 15400 or 15300 to either of those watches. The 3120 is more modern but easier to produce and they are amazing watches for the price. |

It seems a NIB 5711 sells for around $32k as I've seen on WatchRecon....

Paperwork is a big deal for me with Patek. Its the only brand i will only buy new and from an AD, as i want the certificate of origin in my name. So paying a premium over retail and the paperwork not in your name would be a non starter for me. |

Love the 5711 but don't spend that much - get on a waitlist and eventually you'll have one for 24K.

I personally much prefer the 5712-11 which I have to RO, love it in pics and got a new 15300 blue dial, but after wearing it and playing with it didn't feel special to me, so decided will sell it some day and not wear it, so they're not for me, love my ceramic diver though. Others much prefer RO's, I think only you can tell after trying them, about the price I paid my 5711 20.500 swiss francs, would I have paid the crazy grey prices? No way.

5711 or 12 or not worth over sticker at all. Grab the 44mm ROO and wait for 5711 if that's what you want. |

Yes, the RG 44 and 5712 or 5711 at retail are the pair I would hold, I'd then sell the 15400 if you have to.

personally, i would grab the Ti. i just recently purchased that watch and its a total winner (like it more than my LE Schumacher i had, actually).
im also wondering about a question on similar lines (if you dont mind minor threadjack lol)... if assume Ti and 15202 are in the collection, already - would you guys asdd the 'older' RG ROO (while can still get brand new) or the 5711... i suspect some may say swap the 15202 for the 5711 and then have Ti, RG, 5711? but i am also wondering if folks would suggest going 15202, 5711 and only one Offshore... i used to knock the Offshores (oversized, not classic, etc) - all may be true but they really are stunning watches so more open to having more of them in my stash possibly! |

The offshores took a while to grow on me, but once I saw them in person and tried them on I loved them! They are most definitely big hefty watches but that's kind of the point.
I must add that the polished on the ceramic is incredible, it's very shiny and looks great. I think keeping the 15202 is a good move. Part of the appeal for me of the 15400 is the incredible bracelet which you of course lose on the ROO. |

And side note, the titanium was virtually indistinguishable from the stainless steel in terms of the look of the metal

The Ti is gorgeous. Saw it in person a week ago.
