Icon4 Double Red Sea-Dweller: What would you pay?

Hi All,

I have the opportunity to purchase a Double Red Sea-Dweller from someone I met locally. My question is what would you pay for this watch considering the condition and heavy abuse it seems to have taken? Thanks in advance for the help.

People on the vintage forum would be able to give you much better answers. Maybe a mod could move it?

Going to need more pics (esp. the back for this reference) and you wont get a hard value from anyone here. You should find out what a very clean (not mint, not NOS) is retailing for right now at WatchRecon.com and elsewhere, then listen to the experts here tell you whats at issue on the piece and make your valuation.

I dont know the reference well but feel this is a pretty nice example and I personally like the dial a lot, the faded red is very nice. I'm guessing some of the parts have been replaced and I cant tell if you've got a folded bracelet there or not, but its either that or a rivet for this reference, no idea on the clasp...

I'm not a DRSD guy but it could be a very early mk1 double red seadweller. Check out Ed's site and you should be able to determine what it is.

http://www.drsd.com

As for value I wouldn't be able to guess. Depends mostly on rarity as condition is as it is.

Need photos of the case back, inner case, serial and model numbers.
All of the above will determine what it's worth.
They all have to match the dial type for a top price.
If not matching, price will be lower

I think you should pass personally. insert looks aftermarket, have to see more pics in sunlight to check the dial damage. its in bad shape.

What price range seems good for this watch though? I'm curious myself.

I'm not a vintage watch guy... I've stated before in other posts that I buy watches based on my needs since I'm a traveler now I bought a GMT Master II in 2015 always new... I used to dive so I bought my sub back in the 90s.... I've turned at least four or five Rolexes in the last 3 or 4 years ....I will buy and sell watches and never keep a watch I don't wear.

Frankly Speaking newer watches are better made in every way and I'm sorry if you disagree but personally I wouldn't touch the above watch...buy new...

This post is akin to someone going on the modern board and saying "all the new watches are shiny bling bling fashion jewelry". Plenty think that, yet don't feel compelled to tell you.

I keep reading posts saying 'Fake' and yet no one backs up their assertion with any kinds of facts. At all.

Look at photos of legit dials and compare them with this one. What you'll see is exactly the assertions being made.

Forumite jedly1 is very well known in the vintage Rolex world. Consider his opinion as fact when it comes to authenticity.

That watch has been offered on many sites. I'm betting a fake fraud transaction.

Pimenta is also going by an alias watchmaker Bitterman AKA, and a shill named Josh. Buyer beware.

Ok. please listen to these experts. It IS a fake dial at a minimum.
You were smart enough to post pics and ask, and the experts here can correct me if needed, but please pay attention.

First off, the ONLY DRSD dial with a closed 6 on the "610m" and non-italicized "ft" is the mark IV.
On the IV, the top line of red print is an obviously larger font than the 2nd line. (not the case in your photos) The letters are too close together.
The "ft" should be under the "IN" in submariner. (your photos shows under the "N" only")
The "ft" should not extend below the bottom of the "2000". Think "straight line". (your photos show the "ft" dropping below".

ROLEX is offset to far to the left of the crown.
The "12 o'clock" marker lume is too short.

and much less positive for me, but all the lumes appear to have "damage" far to similar each one to be real.

Hopefully that is enough proof for you.

MK1 PP DRSD ,

If it was real $100,000 + is my guess but if Jed calls it fake then worthless
