First Omega Incoming (belated post!)

Four months ago just before the lockdown hit the UK I was popped into my AD for a catch up and just to inquire if they had any 'interesting' Rolex pieces in their recent allocation...(this being a not so discrete code for "is my steel Daytona here yet" lol). Unfortunately there were no Daytonas in the allocation but I did get to try on the Day Date 40 with the anniversary green dial (Wow, what a watch, but more on that in a future post!).
Whilst in store i started browsing the Omega section and I decided to try on the Seamaster 300m on the bracelet. I was extremely taken with the watch and as soon as it was on my wrist I knew I had to have it!
I tried the white dial and the black dial, both stunning but ultimately I went with the black wave dial due to the way it's look totally transformed under different lighting.
The dial, the bezel and the clear caseback just really stood out for me. The only thing I wasnt to keen on was the bracelet due to the lack of any tapering in the size and obviously the rather large helium escape valve.
I was due to travel later that evening so i told the AD if he could match the tax free airport price I'd buy it right now. He happily obliged and I now owned my first Omega!
After I returned from my travels I went staright to the Omega boutique on Bond Street and purchased/fitted the black rubber strap. This is the best combination of strap and dial for the Seamaster 300m in my opinion. It looks stylish, modern and sporty yet can still look acceptable with smarter attire. Definitely a contender for the Submariners crown...at a much more accessible price point.
I really enjoyed the experience of being able to buy a watch with no wait list and even negotiate a fairly good discount for a fantastic watch.
I will always have a fondness for this watch as it has not come off my wrist throughout the whole lockdown.
I look forward to potentially owning a Speedmaster in the next 12 months...the only question is hesalite or sapphire!?
I have included some of my favourite pics of the front/back and on both the strap and fhe bracelet.
I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who is on the fence!

Very nice - I prefer the black over the white too. Also agree on bracelet. For me these are great on rubber. Nice pickup. I’m am going through Heathrow in a couple of weeks so might get one. Last year I had the black/gold one on rubber at 20% off on my wrist and if the wife hadn’t growled at me I’d have bought it. They are terrific value

Lovely watch, regarding getting tax free at Heathrow is it dependent on destination, I know previously on trying to obtain a Rolex there I was going to go to Zurich as it was outside the EU to obtain tax free, not sure if of the rules now.

Ok this has got to stop. I just thought I’d ruled out the black version and then I see this. How am I supposed to choose when they are all so sexy?

Congrats they're amazing watches!

I think the bracelet will grow on you, at least it did for me. Now I put it on rubber and it ends up back on the bracelet the next day.

Congratulations! A great reference! Have the same on a rubber strap. Without some taper it was too much bracelet for me. However, the bracelet looks great on you! I too am looking at a Speedy as my next. I can't decide between the hesalite and sapphire.

Thanks, I am actually looking forward to putting the bracelet back on soon and giving it another chance!
