Incoming!

First of all, I just wanted to give a special shout out to DSW. I’ve been trading, buying from and selling to David for years now. Every single transaction has been absolutely perfect, so I can recommend his services with complete confidence. On this deal particularly, David really looked after me with the price. The watch arrived just today is ago and I’m absolutely smitten.

The backstory is that I first saw this watch two years ago. And I haven’t really stopped thinking about it the whole time. Well, I no longer need to dream about it because she’s on my wrist and I can’t stop smiling.

Being German, a Lange has been something that I have aspired to own for years and years now. It’s an immense feeling of pride for me that my home country is able to produce a watch of this quality.

Today I’m running some errands and pleasantly surprised how casual attire seems to work perfectly fine as well

Will share some more pics later on but I will say it’s tricky to capture the beauty of that movement and do it justice!

Beautiful!
I’ve had my eye on the WG version but the RG is so interesting ... I’m curious , was it always RG for you or were you also considering WG?

Great question, and I'm glad you asked it

I'm historically a WG/white metal kinda guy. I like discrete things and I never felt YG or RG would look good on my pale skin.

Now, before this watch I had a WG submariner which was awesome, however after a while the allure of colored metal was just too strong and I knew my next gold watch was not going to be WG. I also recall feeling that if I was going to have this much $ tied up in a precious metal watch again, I'd want it to look very obviously gold.

So when I tried the up/down 2 years ago it was the WG version. I never even considered the pink gold as an option. But this time around it was the clear choice for me. And there's another reason: the up/down (or any 1815 for that matter) is homage to the pocket watches of an era long gone. It has a charming 'old world' design which, I feel, is expressed wonderfully in the colour metal variations - perhaps in a manner somewhat more characterful and less austere than the WG. I find other Lange watches look amazing in WG (Richard Lange, for instance), but the 1815 and particularly the up/down, to me looks perfect in Lange's wonderful ping gold.

Wow, that is a fantastic watch. This one is a bit of a dream of mine as well, but might have to wait some years. I’m glad I could live vicariously through your post!

Thanks for your answer! I have similar feelings as well- with the exception of one RG dress watch (which I don’t often wear), I am a white metal guy as it suited my low-key, casual style and attire (even at work). Will def need to make my way back to the boutique and try both on again !
