$30K to purchase one Patek
Which Patek would you buy? Preloved is ok.
I kind of like the 5726, but not sure if you can pick up one for that price? |

Sorry, 5726 (in any metal) will be more than $30k. I'd save the money and get it later rather than settling on something else.

That is the watch I am going to get. You would have a little money left over for another watch to. Lol

Agree. With 30K there are only limited references available. I'd wait and save up to 40-50K where there are some amazing references to be had.

I went with a 5167R for this price range -- beautiful and timeless watch that you can dress up or dress down... You just have to make sure that you're comfortable dropping 30k on an uncomplicated Patek.

Preloved is obviously your best bet. A 5712 a good choice on a bracelet but I think 5726 on strap is possible used for around $30k.

I'm going against the flow here ...
A nautilus is a great watch but I really think you have to buy a dresswatch Patek is known for its complications but for 30K you will not find a nice complication On the other hand, the flagship line is the Calatrava And most important, imo you can have the most beautifull Calatrava since more than 20 years The 5196 is drop dead gorgeous AND it's platinum !! a platinum Calatrava or a steel 5712 nautilus .... no question for me this is the watch

Not sure how long you have wanted to buy your Patek, and saved up to buy it. For most people there is a long "want" and "wait" period. Of course, "long" is different for everybody.
A Patek is special. Buy the one you really want. When you decide to buy a Patek, you have already decided to not settle for anything but the best. Since you are now buying your Patek, don't settle for anything except the one you really really want. The jump from $30,000 to $50,000 may be a big one in terms of percentage, but not insurmountable in $ terms. If you had a budget of $30,000 and wanted a $100,000 watch, then perhaps one would have to look at things differently. I write this without knowing any thing about you or your financial situation so I hope I have not caused any offense. Since this is the Patek forum and you are willing to spend $30,000 on a watch, I can only surmise that you know watches and that you have budget things accordingly. |

Even for $30k, I'd need to more than "kind of like" the 5726 (which I do by the way) to put out those kinds of funds.
I'd find somewhere that has a few models and check them out in person, find one you really want. There are plenty I've loved in pics and then once I had it on the wrist, eh....and vice versa. The 5712 is perfect example of that in my case - was all "eh" about it and then I tried it on for the hell of it and ended up taking it home. That said, for $30k you can go for a 5712 1/A if you look around. |
