State of the Pen Collection

Hey! Hope everyone is doing okay.
I just added a Pilot Custom 74. Love it! It's a broad nib that seems to write truly broad.
Here are pics of my current pens. The perspective in the photo of the Pelikans is deceptive: the blue demonstrator is actually the smallest of the three!

Nice selections. Judging by your collection choices so far, I think you might really enjoy something from Platinum.

Hi Pickettt

Thanks, yes, I've thought of that! Do you have any specific suggestions?

My current favorite is probably the Makie Kanazawa...

That is beautiful! The Platinum #3776 Century pens are also very nice.

The Izumos are also quite nice.

But for yet another Japanese option there is Eboya. Eboya makes almost all the ebonite used by any of the Japanese pensmiths and also sells there own creations.

Here is my small Natsume:

Thanks! I like that Natsume!

Uh-oh, I wasn't even aware of the Platinum Izumo, and now I might have a new grail pen! Do you know about the nib--would a broad Izumo nib write like a European medium (as is the case with a lot of Japanese nibs)?

No, a broad Izumo nib writes like a broad European nib if you pick the right European brand.

Despite what you hear and read on the internet, I've found such differences to be more myth than reality.

And just for fun, also look a Nakaya (still same familial relations as Platinum) :

Thanks, jar!

Great tips, thanks! Wow, I love these Japanese pens that have no metal trim other than the clip. It gives them a great retro feel.

thank you, Hog!

Thanks, man! I have to come up with little writing projects for myself so that I can use all my pens! To-do lists, handwritten letters, a journal, copying out quotations that I like . . .

For me I started journal writing during the pandemic; it give me daily cause to use my pens.
