Anyone prefer smaller watches

I have a large wrist and was used to wearing around 40mm subs but after finding my childhood watch and wearing it for a few weeks I now love the 36mm size seasmaster . Anyone else prefer smaller ?

That looks good on ya.

Yup, prefer 36 due to my girlie wrist.

And it is just comfortable and unobtrusive. Elegant and proportionally suitable.

I wear it as against the watch wears me.

nope, i prefer the right fitting.

It's like clothing...the best fitting is what makes a person look good.

So are most people wearing watches that are too large for them would you say ?

I think my 36mm DJ is perfect on my 7" wrist. But, then again, the 36mm DJ is a perfect watch!

If you can read the dial it's not too small. I hope I live long enough to see watches go back to time telling objects and not a fashion assessory.

Most of mine are 36 or 37, though I often wear a 45mm Seiko Turtle. Got a few 40/41 Rolex/Tudor, too. A few mm either way doesn't make any difference if I like the watch. My wrist is about 7.25.

When I went to mayor's to but the Cartier the guy said isn't that to small for you wouldn't you like the bigger size
I told him that the smaller size has worked for men for about 80 years so it'll work for me

I’m not disputing your right to enjoy whatever you like in terms of watches.

But just because something worked for 80 years doesn’t mean it works today. Or tomorrow.

Read a quote once that said the most dangerous words to a business are “this is the way we’ve always done it”. I tend to believe that transcends business and applies to life in general.

Anyway, whatever works for you, works. And that’s awesome. I tend to like the 40mm ish sweet spot. But most of the watches I like, and how I like to wear them, most people dislike greatly. For example I tend to put everything on a rubber strap. I just prefer watches that way.

To each their own I like to say.

I do not like smaller watches for my wear. I appreciate a lot of the looks of smaller watches but they do not work for me.

Big watches. Supercars and Mansions for this guy!!!!!

I like my vintage watches so the 36mm and under don’t bother me. This is one of my favorites.

I think we are seeing the tide shift back to smaller watches. Oris this year came out with a 36mm version of the diver 65 and it is fabulous.

I’ve got a 7.5 inch wrist. 40mm is the sweet spot for me. However a 36mm DD or DJ works also.

I was watching an interview with Wilt Chamberlain about a week ago. He was wearing a really small watch (<34mm), it appeared. Of course that’s a big dude, and proportion distorts perception, but it was clearly a small watch. Personally, I wear what I think looks good and don’t even know the measurements. The only reason I know my Datejust is a 36mm is because it’s in the title. I have no idea of the measurements of my other watches. They just look right to me.

For me, it's not about the diameter of the watch, it's thickness, the way the bracelet fits or or even the size of the wrist. It's about the combination of all of those things that determines how it feels and looks on my wrist.
It can be a great looking watch but if it flops all over the place and I'm constantly aware of it trying to rotate around my wrist then I'm not going to be comfortable with it.
Smaller, lighter watches are generally easier to wear.
