The Humble Datejust

Here is my 1978 Datejust 16000.

The datejusts don't get much love around here, well not as much as the SS sports models, but I think they can look just as beautiful as any other vintage watches.

I simply love this one - it's pure simplicity - and it looks great with a suit.

Here's my 1603 Roman dial. I don't wear it much these days, but it always brings a smile to my face.

Only 6 weeks old. My first Rolex. I like the SS case and black dial. For me it's one watch I can wear anywhere, anytime.

Very nice "Buckley" dial on your DATEJUST.

That really is a beautiful timepiece. It is hard to beat the "less is more" look your watch has - very nice!

It's glorious.
For me the proof of the Rolex pudding is that what are effectively their entry level models like this and the Air King are as simple as you could imagine, yet have something magic about them you can't get anywhere else.
By rights that should just be a very normal(albeit attractive), almost ordinary watch, but in reality it's anything but, and I'd happily gaze at that all day.

I dunno how they do it, I really don't...

I bought my Datejust in 1987. TT, white dial, stick markers, acrylic crystal. It was my very first Rolex, shown here with my three Subs.

That is superb Chris... A few years ago I missed out on a model with the red date just writing above, but it was in no where near as good condition as yours. Very nice...

There is nothing that says Rolex more than a Datejust. A classic beauty. And the vintage models are the best bang-for your-buck around. Here's my 16014, 5.4 mil serial with the 3035 quickset. (Photo by Bob Ridley.)

Hi this beautiful watch seems to be the same as mine (with a different bezel) - see the first post of this thread. Do you know the serial number (or year) and model?
