Ok guys, I have just noticed the 6 o'clock marker is a bit higher than usual, I have checked many other pics from different sources for the 1675 and on there the marker is much lower and closer to "swiss - t<25"

Has anyone noticed this or is it the pic...???

It’s a radial dial

I don't see any issues at all with the 6 o'clock marker. It must be your monitor!

Here is one of mine, which appears identical to the dial being discussed.

Thank you for the correction, Springer.

I do not remember where I read that. It is good to know.

Here is a picture of mine to also show the "six" stick.

As I said, it's my daily wearer.

C19580, it looks great after its Ridley service.

Congratulations on doing the research that helped you to understand how the watch should be preserved. Sadly so many people don't, and Rolex are very unsympathetic to the value and charm of vintage pieces.

You've preserved a family heirloom beautifully for generations to come. Well done, and wear it in good health.

Beautiful, glad you saved it before Rolex ruined it. You would think Rolex would be more familiar with preserving vintage pieces in this day and age. I guess it will always be about the money with them.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Very glad that I came here for advice. It’s clear that folks here have a passion for these vintage timepieces and certainly a lot of knowledge. I would have been devastated if I had not challenged the ADs recommendation and would have later learned of the terrible mistake I had made. Tremendously gracious for the advice I received here.

Thanks a lot Springer for the pic, it is the radial dial which I totally forgot about.

Cheers.

Everyone's a winner here. Just make sure that the next guardian of this fine piece knows how it should be maintained.

Rolex obviously does/has done work that we all love, or else we wouldn't be here. But their approach to the treatment of vintage pieces needs development.
