Kinda liking the Air-King's clasp

I don't know whether some of you have noticed this. But the new Air-King's Oysterclasp is brushed and the Rolex logo is engraved into the clasp. On other Oysterclasps, the logo is extruded from the clasp. Quite neat.

The new Air King is definitely a fun look all around. It seems like Rolex is finally having fun with making watches--the new Oyster line with all the different color dials and now this Air King which has a lot going on and is very unique. Good look!

not a fan, as it seems cheaper & will look worse with successive polishings.

Why would it look worse with polishing? seems like since the shape is actually a relief that it would stay looking sharp longer as you don't actually touch the "shape" during a polish? Assuming of course that the polisher knows what they're doing...

I saw similar clasp during OP 39mm release's and was wearing my 214270 at that time. It felt cheap and less reliable compared to Explorer!

the way i see it, as the metal wears down through use & polishing, necessarily the depth of the logo will decrease, thereby reducing its visibility/sharpness.

Thats what I was thinking, it seems Rolex have taken a leaf out of Tudor's book

When I first got the 114300 I was concerned about the clasp too, hasn't opened by accident in 5 months of daily wear. It's sturdy and reliable.

I like the bracelet as well. Happy with the brushed/engraved look.

I have to agree, I think it is a breath of fresh air and a nice modern look. Although there would have to be extra care taken by whoever polishes the clasp as not to ruin the engraving. Probably more so than with the raised crown on the new glide lock clasps. Either way, I like it!

On a sports watch, I appreciate having an Oysterlock versus an Oysterclasp. Just a personal preference.

This thread makes me want the OP. Especially with that clasp. But I once had a DJ2 with the Oysterclasp. The problem with that is sometimes the clasp comes undone by itself. The quality and sturdiness is pure Rolex but somehow the old Oysterlock was more secure.

Yes it is nice. I don't now about others but my Year 2012 Oyster Perpetual already has this clasp.

I think the AK is the most attractive offering this year! I know most people will focus on the Daytona but the prospect of paying more than MRSP and/or waiting years to get one doesn't appeal in the least to me.

The AK on the other hand, I think should be relatively more available and affordable. And I like the clasp, dial and new upsize.

And a raised crown is less likely affected by polishing?

. . . don't think so.

No problem either way.
