Decision time - help!
Ok, enlisting your opinions here. I believe it's come down to the following choice - this is my first purchase as I now approach, rather, have reached middle age!
a) non-date, non certified 14060M. 2006 or 2007 model. NIB. somewhere between $4000 and $4,200 from an AD. b) Datejust 116234 Stainless with wg bezel, oyster band, silver face with batons. $5,185 BNIB from reputable, non-AD in Washington, D.C. suburbs. [Jubilee on the new datejust has too much bling for me]. I looked at the Datejust II but it seemed too big on my wrist. I'm a tall - 6'2" back-room, NY attorney by day and a kickback, casual jean wearing cyclist, swimmer on the week-end. Thanks for taking the time. Will purchase this coming Friday. |

Go for the Sub. IMHO, that should be your first Rolex. It was my first Rolex purchase and I am "middle aged" / discovered fine watches later than most.

I'm a BIG DJ and Sub fan....ideally you could have both. I'd suggest getting the Sub first.

There was a post a while back about someone finding an old stock GMT II with the black insert BNIB from an AD. I only mention this because if you're looking at old stock from ADs, this might be one to consider.

Datejust, without a doubt. You'll wish you did...trust me, the date feature is a must.

The 14060M, a perfect Rolex for everyday wear IMO. That dial symmetry is easy to look at But then so is the SubDate with or without a tinge of green. The SD is also a good choice, you won't see so many and now that they have been discontinued it would be a keeper. Looking at your height, career and lifestyle it's a SD first up for you mate - buy it now.

Me too, I vote for the sub, but I would suggest the sub date as date function is very useful, at least to me.
