Icon19 CONFIRMED news regarding the professional line

As some of you have read in the Open Forum, I spent all day planning for our upcoming Vegas gathering, as well as talking watches with one of the largest accounts for Rolex in the United States.

I do not share ‘I heard’ or ‘someone said’; I only share confirmed information with you, my virtual family.

Rolex is letting all Authorized Dealers IN WRITING that, effective immediately, they will CUT BACK the production of ALL professional line watches. Not only SS, but 2T and precious metal.

Therefore, we, as customers, will see LESS of these units at our AD’s. Hold on to your subs, GMTs, Daytonas...steel, rolesor or gold/platinum. They will be harder to get.

Gerardo,

Thanks for the update. Interesting information. Any idea as to when the AD’s will be notified in writing?

If true, bottles of champagne are being uncorked at Swatch and Richemont HQs.

Maybe they will start making smart watches. Complete overhaul, pun intended.

Thanks! My AD must have not received his letter yet. I spoke to him today and he received a small shipment of watches last week, but no mention of the letter from Rolex. He is pretty candid with me too.

I don't doubt your information. I am too much of newbie to go there. BUT WHY. Are they cutting production or changing how many watches go to each region of the world?

You would only cut production if you are not selling them? Or change who is buying them.

2018 will be an interesting

This is a major bummer. Will send people to pick up older pieces or look at other companies. This will only benefit the GM dealers who will really scoop up everything now.

But that's money in the AD's pockets not in Rolex Corp's.

Maybe Rolex is pissed at ADs for selling popular models to greys and punish them. Also they want to open their own stores :)

They’re definitely selling well. They have most people sold before they even try them on. Even when the watch market as a whole has a poor year, this doesn’t affect Rolex. This move could just be one to create more exclusivity completely killing any discounts while at the same time perhaps selling more Datejusts and Day-Dates. Whatever their reasoning, it is very disappointing news for true fans of the brand who don’t see watches as just status symbols.

Good thing none of the modern Rolex models interest me. I’m happy with what I got, I will not be playing this game With Rolex

other watch companies are grinning ear to ear if this is true.

Probably not the best time or the brightest thing to do when considering the mechanical watch industry and its current weak growth and ever increasing competition from the digital watches.

Other than Daytonas and SD43, all the professional models are on 31XX movements. Wonder if they are switching them over to 32XX movements and that’s creating a shortage.
