First Seiko (not GS) with Spring Drive?

Nice piece, spotted it a while back in a Gnomon newsletter. Not the first non-GS to use SD though.

Guess I’m surprised that Seiko uses SD as well.

I love GS watches. The quality is really top notch, and the SBGE257 is one of my favorite pieces to wear now. But Seiko / GS marketing, product line, and product decisions just baffles me.

If you do zaratsu polishing and spring drive on all Seiko watches, then what’s the differentiating features between Seiko and GS?

I had a Spring Drive Chrono LE in a standard Seiko back in 2011

Several thousand £ or $ depending on where you live and of course "Grand" on the box....

Cool watch but lost in the Seiko LX/Grand Seiko/Seiko branding mess. For the price I can do better.
