Audemars Piguet USA AD.

Why are there so few US dealers?
I know they only produce a fraction of Rolex volume - is that it?
Thanks. I would like to go look, but there isn't a dealer for hundreds of miles around me.

They are moving to a boutique only model. In the last few years several have been closed. I live in a smaller market as well and it’s annoying. Nearest AD is 100 miles and nearest boutique is 400 miles.

Best move is to visit a boutique in person and order through a sales associate then you can more easily deal with them remotely from there on. You can also just call and not visit but it’s nice to have a face to face and also try on stuff.

Thanks. I do want to try one on before buying, so that's a problem for me. There was an AD about 3.5 hours away, but they lost their franchise before I took the time to drive there.

Yes...this is frustrating. I live in San Francisco and there are no ADs around me. I’m pretty surprised they don’t have at least one AD in the area.

For me the closest AD is in downtown Chicago (125 miles away), and the closest boutique is NYC (760 miles away). You may be to get a feel for AP by looking at pre-owned watches which may show up at non-ADs closer to you. My first pre-owned AP was bought at a used Rolex dealer in Chicago.

There's one AD in my city of 5m people. Great for PM and diamond watches

Next closest is 800km away. Similar story

Nearest boutique is 7 hour flight away. You Americans have it great!

Do the boutiques offer any discounts?

They used to, even on things like 15202st's but now thats LONG gone. You can still get small discounts for gold pieces, but not too much. At a certain point you're just investing in being able to get models in the future (and even that is still tough but hey, either move with the ocean or leave your boat and forget the sea).

Don’t even ask for a discount. They are required to document that request...and you’ll be on the naughty list.

I agree. Stephen silver jeweler was an AD, which was nice. Now we have to visit Las Vegas or Southern California. Frustrating indeed!
