Judging by the response so far I'm certainly not the only one who feels that way. It's like they figured out EXACTLY what everyone wanted, and did the COMPLETE opposite.

I still fail to understand (and this goes for the original Rolex/Tudor prototypes as well) why you would need to lock a 12 hour bezel.

That's how long you have to stare at the watch to wonder why it was produced in the first place.

Wrong. After all it's been over 24 hours now since most of us saw it and it still doesn't make any sense...

I'm pretty sure that the US Navy requested a bi-directional bezel with a locking device. Everything I've read indicates that the Navy had strict specifications for the watch.

Yes and a removable bezel. Not sure if this bezel is removable. Had they done so with 3 bezel options it would have been much cooler.

I'm aware of the USN requisition. I was asking about the purpose that serves.

This does not have a removable bezel, per Fratello's hands-on.

... so that it's not moved unvoluntarily, thereby screwing up whatever time it was keeping a tab on ?

OK. I was upset because I was ready to buy the new BB58/Sub variant that everyone was hoping for. I was so put off when I saw this.

But after looking and thinking for a bit, I've reserved judgement until I can see it on my wrist. I do like that it is something totally different.

Eh. Remembering a time zone difference is not the same thing as tracking elapsed time.

Where's Patrick Stewart's quadruple palm face picture when we need it....I was expecting something really cool from Tudor. The P01 is just awful. whoever approved this design needs to be fired immediately.

I was hoping for something that would be wildly popular... So maybe people would stop buying BB58s and then I would get a chance at buying one

No such luck.

It wouldn't surprise me.

I bought an out-of-favor NOS Tudor (now discontinued) some years ago from a an AD for a heck of deal. Get more compliments on it than any Rolex I've had, and I really enjoy wearing it.

For the right price, I would plunk down on this, drive it around for a while and see what happens. I would not be surprised in the least if it held it's own 5 years down the road-- not at a premium necessarily, but still a favorable departure from normal modern watch design.

Agreed. It's kind of cool in a contrarian way.

That's how the PN Daytona became so valuable. It was the ugly duckling and never sold. Now they're rare.

.......Now watch all the speculators buy Tudors latest monstrosity in the hopes of cashing in.

It's a leather/ rubber hybrid. Not that it makes any sense.

The watch itself is actually smaller than the average BB in comparison. It's all the extra bracelet end link parts and bezel shrouds that make it appear bigger than it needs to be.

Puzzled...if the US Navy didn't adopt it as their tool watch in favor of something else, then why would Tudor think the general public will with their $$?

Actually, based on the latest Hodinkee article it isn’t quite AS bad, it seems. Not saying I’m digging it, but some shots almost look acceptable.

IMHO, not a home run for Tudor.
PS 50mm case length

Watch: What's on my wrist
Posts: 33,256
I know I said it's not an SKX, Tudor made an SUX. I'm back peddling. Yes it is similar to the SKX as it comes out of the same period of watch development. It also reminds me a bit of the Ploprof. I'd really like it on something other than the hybrid leather rubber strap it comes on. The good news is that it's got through holes and should make strap changes quick and easy. The bidirectional bezel is a bit of a mystery to me. As the watch was a copy of a watch developed for the Navy I've got to wonder about the purpose of the 12 hour bezel as opposed to a dive style timing bezel both on this and the original prototype. All in all, this forum is always critical about Rolex's slide from Tool to Luxury watches and yet when Tudor delivers a watch that is as close as any made to a true tool watch there is very little other than criticism. Unfortunately the size is larger than I'd like so I won't be buying one. If my wrist were a bit larger or I was really into collecting I'm pretty certain that I would. I can't see buying one just to let it sit. On the other hand this could be the Tudor version of the Daytona. One final question. What about it makes Tudor call it a dive/sailing hybrid? Not certain what it has to do with sailing.
