Rolex is getting disappointing
One of the coolest watches out there. Rolex used to be about cool, tool, steel watches. What is with all the bling, gold, shine, etc? Ugh. Welcome spring from here in Alaska. It's 35 degrees, sunny, and this Explorer II looks great on a Black Bay nato.

His point stands. Blingy ceramic bezels, PCLs on tool watches, two tone sea dwellers...Rolex has been moving more toward the “fashion” side of things for awhile now. That’s not to say they don’t still have offerings to satisfy the purists, but the selection is shrinking.

Certainly, longer than I've been alive and I'm an old coot, or at least that was my MDs assessment this afternoon.

They can produce what they want. If you don’t like it, but something else, or get a job on their design team.

Definitely true. It’s just good business on their part. The fact is that what seems like a majority on this forum is in fact an overwhelming minority.

A DJ36 with jubilee /diamond dial and diamond bezel is just as tough as a Expl II ..to be frank, its much less prone to scratching. The brushed bezel part of an Expl II is a ding and scratch magnet .

There isn't a new watch in the rolex range i would buy, apart from maybe the Daytona or 36 DD. (Esp the new release DD with green dial)
For me it has been the case since they went huge blocky cases on the professional range. Of course this is a purely personal view point. |
