Something is brewing 116710LN

Reading all the SS Professional line shortages there hasn’t been much talk on the black gmt 116710LN. However it seems to me even in shorter supply then the BLNR, Sea Dweller, and Subs. I recently was in 4 cities in Italy and out of the 8 AD’s I visited non of them had a GMT LN, not suprising but what was surprising was what they had to say. Each of them had bigger wait lists for the black GMT then they did for Subs. They also said they had been getting a few subs in here and there but no GMT LN. All my local AD’s are the same, they actually had a Sub Date they just got in in the case a few days ago. One of my out of state AD’s got in a few Subs the other day along with a Sea Dweller that I picked up, but no LN’s. Also when I was in Vegas for CES same talk about LN’s from AD’s there. Pretty interesting. I’m thinking some type of change is coming. I know we never know and it’s all speculation but something must be brewin with the 116710LN.

Well the gmt LN has been around the longest with the maxi case and ceramic bezel, I don't see why it wouldn't be the first to change. It's had a long run.

How long are the lists for the LN? If a SS Coke did come out would the people on the LN lists get first dibs?

Doubtful to switch lists - coke would be a frenzy

The AD I spoke to recently about the DaytonaC frenzy said that those on the list before its release had first dibs on the Ceramic model. Perhaps those on the BLNR list would be offered the Coke and not the LN?

Not sure they would change LN, but keep the BLNR same. If they make changes only to LN that would probably mean BLNR is gone.

Yeah it really is interesting. I keep in close contact with about 6 AD’s in different US cities and they all have received more BLNR’s and basically no LN’s over the past 5 months. Even if you look at the Trusted sellers over the past 5 months it’s seems like hey have had zero new LN’s until the other day when I saw one of them list one.

116710LN was introduced @ Basel 2006 (from memory), so it may very possibly be updated. The BLNR was shown @ Basel 2013, I can't see them updating it, as it will be a very short run for such a popular reference.

I would agree with doboy007, if the LN is updated the BLNR may most probably be droped

Really looking forward to Basel this year more than any other.

There may be a movement change so Rolex may be getting rid of their old inventory and since they've been holding back on BLNR, they have more to release into the market before the change.

So you think they would have 2 different styles (not colors) of GMT??? That doesn't make any sense.

Agreed.....could mean they’re fairly depleted of the LN, and still trying to sell off remaining inventory of BLNR’s, to make way for new movement/case for the GMT. Also, bring out the Coke version to replace the BLNR .....who know though

I'm glad I have the older, more desirable, discontinued 166710LN.

That's a heck of a good point. I actually do see Subs and Subs w/ date, but never GMT's. I tend to agree that something is afoot.

I think the BLNR hurt the sales of the LN and LN production may have been cut back. It would be an interesting poll question: For those who purchased a BLNR, if it never existed would you have chosen to purchase the LN or opted for a different model altogether?

My AD has a LN in the case. Endless calls for the Sub and BLNR but none for the GMT LN.

I can see the LN getting an update. Red/Black in PM & dropping the BLNR to introduce it's replacement a few years down the line

That has been my thought also. They just probably ran out of GMT’s before Subs. I think the fact that they had a better 2017 then expected left them short on inventory only because they weren’t producing them with the old movement anymore not because they under evaluated demand. A company like Rolex has plenty of stock and would never be out because of demand like some suggest. Out because they have stopped production on the current mode and not lasting to get them to Basel makes much more sense. I think the new versions are being produced and are waiting for release and Basel and will hit the market fast and with plenty of inventory on models like gmt ln and subs. Also think that is why they waited on Coke or Pepsi. I see one of those being this years Dayyona C

This could certainly be interesting. A few days ago the main AD in Toronto confirmed they had one in stock to my surprise. Only time will tell but I'm certainly watching this closely!

I don't see the dropping BLNR. We already know they can't do a red/blue combo but black/blue works very well. Black/red likely is possible as well.

My prediction:
- New movement across GMT line
- Smaller lugs to mimic the SD43
- Keep 40mm case
- Offer LN, BLNR and new Coke

BLRO in WG gets killed, never to be brought back again. It was a Mistake. Perhaps in 10 years they'll figure out how to do blue/red in ceramic and then they'll bring it back in SS - the way it's meant to be.

Interesting that there has been such a short supply of LNs. I've popped into my local AD twice over the last 6 weeks, and both times they had the 116710LN sitting in the case. The few BLNRs that they had received went quite quickly, but the LN was left untouched.

I think the Coke (if they released it) will be in PM, not SS. But one can hope.

I hope they retire the green arrow LN. Prices will go up then.
