214270 matte dial

Can the owners of 214270 MKII’s share some pics of the lovely matte dials?

Some angles look satin like that of my sub but other pics show that matte gold.

Rolex should of kept the matte dials going for the Subs IMO - yes the SD4K has one but is too thick.

Push me over the edge.

Once you go matte, it's hard to go back. Take the plunge.

The matte dial is terrific. Makes the markers and hands really pop.

Well. How does it stack up against the 14060m?

I’m thinking getting one and having the bezel brushed to tone it down a smidge.

Starting with my disclaimer: both the 214270 and 14060M are great watches that can serve as a one-watch solution (or foundation of a collection) and will work well in basically any conceivable circumstance. It's large a matter of aesthetics between the two as to which you prefer, since they are functionally so similar.

I won't go over the differences in timing bezel vs smooth bezel, etc, you already know all of that stuff. It basically comes down to a couple of details for me.

As my tastes have changed, I find that I really, really like a matte dial. There's something so simple about it, but so nice when the light hits it just right. It can appear different colors but has that distinct vintage nod, which is great.

The other detail is the bracelet. Functionally on the wrist, the 6-digit and 5-digit bracelet are equally fine. And as much as I've tried to deny it, the build quality and slight extra heft of the 6-digit bracelet wins out for me. In my head, I know it should matter because on the wrist the bracelets feel the same, but when I pick up the 214270 in the morning, it feels so solid to me and I derive some satisfaction from that.

I find that the watches wear similarly, both are very, very comfortable and disappear during the day. They're both great watches and you can't go wrong, but I'd certainly recommend giving the 214270 a try. You can find a really nice pre-owned one for $5700 or so, and if you really like it and want your name on the card, sell it and go the AD route.

It's a win-win either way as they're both great watches, but I've found I prefer the 214270 after having both.

Ok...

The hunt is on.

When I find a 214270 mkii in the +/- $5500 range I'm a buyer. Let's see what pops up.

I really think you'll like it.

I know you like changing up straps -- have you seen Chadridv's recent thread with the 214270 on Oysterflex? It looks incredible. I'm currently trying to source an OF to do this myself.

I honestly believe it would be more popular if it was .ore expensive. It's just such a classic design and in my mind must more versatile than a Sub.

How and where do you get the OF from? An AD or the boutique wouldn’t sell you this, right?

Emailed with Edvi today@ LAWW.

He also thinks a satin brushed 214270 would be slick. A true under the radar tool piece.

I'm waiting on one to pop up!

I noticed my 214270 bought in OCTOBER 2018 from AD is not matt like all your pictures... it is JET BLACK.

Could it be a MKIII new dial ? Hmmm...

Can't believe I hated this watch when I first tried it on over a year ago. Has definitely become one of my favourites and the matt dial has had a massive contribution to this! Love a matt black dial.

Many of these photos look jet black and many look matte black. What is the difference and when did it change?
