Overall I have to give a .10157niner. A pointless two-tone sea dweller, a oversized YM which may be nice but loses the platinum bezel yet they’ll still ask platinum money for, and they stuck my BLNR on an old mans bracelet......the only shining light for me is the S&G chrono....it’s nice but not awe inspiring. It’s fine though, I’m waiting for the 50th anniversary Exp 2 next year. Then they’ll get my money.

Utterly disappointing year for Tudor and Rolex.
Now add the stupid shortage, and I will tell you that many will not be too happy with Rolex anymore. Ughh. Time to move on (to other brands) I guess. |

Because the coke was a “supplementary” colorway to the Pepsi. It was never the main variant. So why would they eliminate a model that, in its 4th(?) year of production is far more popular than the coke was at the same time in its run? I get everyone’s nostalgia for certain things, I have mine too. But I think coke lovers may just have to accept that it’s gone. |

Both Rolex and Patek had a very lazy year and very disappointing except for my wallet! At least we have lots of old watches to choose from that look amazing. As for 2019...Swing and a miss for the big boys!

I give it a 10 for long term strategy... at some point we have to stop trying to suck and blow...
this year might not "break the internet".. but Rolex has never been one to cannibalize itself .. let the pepsi have a long moment in the spotlight... let dealers get the sense that they can't just flip over their stock to the grey market because there is less to go around. other brands keep cranking out novelty after novelty, that the last "exciting" piece becomes yesterday's news before it even hits the market. this strategy is why Rolex will still be king in 100 years... they can take a year off... good news for pepsi owners, bad news for BLNR speculators.. (but for the record... none of these interest me... at all... focus remains on the CHNR)

There's nothing that would be on my buy radar. I also didn't see anything on Tudor's releases that does anything for me. Kind of disappointing, though I can save some money in 2019.

If they did this to focus on ramping production on it other models so we can actually buy them, fine. But if it remains extremely difficult to obtain existing models and they release new lackluster models then my money will be going to other brands.

I dunno. I was waiting for the new Day-Date 36 and now it's here and their dial choices make it clear that they want it to be a ladies Day-Date. Love the white gold and blue dial but give me the option to get rid of that damn diamonds!

It almost seems like they are pushing us towards Tudor on purpose.

Didn’t have the heart to give it a one, but should have. I gave them a three for keeping my money safe for another year.

This was a pretty weak showing for Rolex and a disastrous one from Tudor. The best release of the show, for me, is the meteorite dial 126719BLRO. The BLNR on Oyster is fine, if not revolutionary, same with the Yacht-Master 42. The SD is a disgrace. No new steel sports models is quite disappointing, as well. The Tudor releases are atrocious -- the teaser had me thinking they might come out with a new Sub, and I figured they'd have to at least come out with some more colors of the BB58 given its success, but instead we got some weak BB variants and that hideous P01.
The only silver lining is that the GMT line got streamlined, meaning more of the in-demand models can be expected to be made -- if this means I get a BLRO sooner, which it appears it will, then I'm happy.

To be quite honest this year’s releases suck.
-The YM42 makes the YM line messy. Rolex increased the sizes only for purposes of raising the price for SS imo. -GMT Master...where’s our LN???? Still the same old YG models. Why can’t we get more -DJ36...really only 2 options listed? -Cheetah Daytona....nobody cares -SD43 TT....what a Mess. It’s obvious they’re going full press with it being a Sub for large wrists. Kind of sad for being a SD |

Worst year I can remember, maybe Rolex are holding their fire in this market as they are already huge and hyped, so I hope behind the scenes they are innovating and when the market calms down they have some interesting releases in their back pocket.

Excellent point. Maybe this will calm things down until next year when true innovation (hopefully) returns.

Loving my BB58 even more now. Was worried they’d bring out a blue version. Regarding the Rolex releases, I much prefer the jubilee on the BLNR.
Surprised more hasn’t been made of the meteorite dialled GMT. Looks pretty good to me. |
