Pickleback - You gotta try it!

For those of you unaware, a Pickleback is a shot of whiskey chased with a shot of pickle brine - aka pickle juice.

I was browsing the internet last night and ran across an article stating that Pickelbacks were the #1 most ordered shot in the US the past year. I did not verify the article, because I really do not care. However, it did pique my interest enough to try one.

Long story short, my wife and I ended up having 3 each. What I figured would be weird or gross, was pretty delicious.

According to google, Jameson or a Rye is the whiskey of choice. Any dill pickle brine with work.

We had High West Rye and Vlassic Kosher Dill.

Umm interesting. We made dirty martini's once with the pickling juice of Olives. It was like drinking sea water. I was that bad spluttering, managed to knock a bottle of Grey Goose off the bench onto the tiled floor.

a Pickleback is good if you are stuck at a bar or party that only has terrible whiskey. works in a jam

Sometimes I have them without the whiskey.

What he said. Not as bad as it sounds. Also works well when a lady wants to do shots. She can have hers with a pickleback and I can just have straight booze.

Pickle juice is a great electrolyte replacement drink. I used to drink it all the time after long bike rides.
