New Tudor Sub review

Good read. It could be the sleeper of the Rolex Tudor releases.

Ty. It looks better in pictures than in the mock up.

Don't think there's a snowflakes chance in hell I'd own one but I am intrigued by the sheer weirdness.

The strap itself is weird. Appears to be rubber leather that can get wet

Yeah, a leather/ rubber hybrid. The end links and bezel shrouds take up lots of space which means the watch face is smaller than other BBs in comparison. Sacrificing dial size for gimmicky strap design ain't worth it.

But I'd still love to see one in person.

I’ll never understand this release. I can appreciate the thought and risk, I just wish it would accompany something more marketable. If they also had a BLNR GMT, or expanded the 58 line, or debuted a steel Pelagos than this could have been a really fun novelty piece. But they teased us with this for months. I don’t get it.

The saddest thing about these close-ups is that they show things that this hideous watch got right, like the printed markers without metal surrounds.

I am actually baffled by this release...when i saw this on my news feed, first thing that came to my mind was the scene from Simpsons. The scene where Homer designed a car.

After having looked at dozens of real-world pics of this, I have decided...it’s still awful. There will be some that will like it, but for me there’s no putting lipstick on this pig.

I love it even more now that I've seen these pictures.

I'm feeling about it much the same way as I felt about the North Flag, when good pictures were finally posted, except a bit more intensely.

I personally would have preferred a bracelet, but the hybrid strap will do.

My only reservation is the 50mm length. The forty-two millimeter width is at my limit, so I'll just have to see it first.

Our new local AD doesn't carry Tudor, yet, but they did say they could access any reference I was interested in. I'll have to pursue that with them.

I can attest that bc tudor doesnt used fixed end links lug to lug they wear compact. The pelagos fits my 6.3 inch wrist just fine.

Had to check the date on my Tudor sub to make sure it wasn’t April 1st.

If you could get the whole bracelet assembly off and go to rubber or something else it may be ok????

This is not a sub. And the likelihood of this being a sleeper hit is as likely as a monkey reciting the Gettysburg addresss.

Bygones.

The ends snap into place locking the bezel down. Functional but do make for smaller face. It is starting to grow on me. I like that it was a 60’s prototype and no lume surrounds.

Guys this isnt the final design. They are putting the bb crown on it and adding some gold. Stay tunned.

Another review out, it is interesting to read the rationale for the watches configuration. I still think the sleeper of the show. It has probably gotten more comments and press than most new releases . That is marketing 101, build brand recognition. It maybe a niche piece but I like it more each time I see it. Gets Tudor buyers in the door if for no other reason than to see it.

As Mr. Hand from Fast times at Ridgemont High would say. " Were you all on dope when you designed this".
