Why is the blue Skydweller so hard to get?

Same with the blue 5711 or AP RO.

Do people just like blue dials or are they just made in limited numbers compared to the other colors?

I personally don't like blue dials and can't figure it out.

Beautiful watches and all super high demand with very limited supply. Pretty easy to figure that one out as in why they are so hard to get whether one likes blue or not.

I understand. But is it because they make less of the blue, or is it because people love blue more than the other colors?

Not as many references have a blue dial as an option. This is why the blue dial Sky-Dwellers and even Datejusts tend to be in higher demand. Rolex also restricts a blue dial to precious metal cases in many instances.

Huh? The Sub, Daytona, DSSD, GMT ii, DJ, Day-Date, YM i, Milgauss all have blue dial options... Blue dials everywhere.

It’s a fantastic watch, my favorite Rolex. Demand is ridiculous on the blue, often having lists longer than the Daytona. Dealers also, from my experience, will get more Daytona’s than blue sky’s. Rolex likely choking supply so the watch stays hot for longer and doesn’t fall off fast. Trust me tho, see it in person and you’ll understand. It’s a perfect watch in my opinion, the dial is to die for. There’s tons of pics on my IG if u wanna look ;)

for every person asking for a white dial, there's 3 people asking for the black and 10 people asking for the blue. Those numbers are obviously hypothetical, but that's how/why the blue dial in this case is so hard to get. Simply because more people want it.

The deeper question is why do people love blue dials so much? That I don't know. Rolex especially does sunburst blue dials really really well IMO. I would pick up a blue dial Sky-D at retail, and I have a blue dial DJ41 on my radar.

I’d imagine they make roughly the same amount but the blue dial seems to be the most popular. I also like the blue dial SD the best.

Blue is in highest demand. Simple. Same reason the white dial Daytona C sells for more $ than the black dial.

My wife gave me a $40K limit for my birthday watch. It’s a major birthday. I fell for blue dial Yacht Master. It’s a striking watch. Well under my limit.

Spoke with an AD a month ago; they volunteered that Rolex was limiting the number of blue dialed watches they'd ship because of their popularity.

It's a money thing. They may be popular, but they are expensive to produce and sell at MSRP as is. Those are marketing pieces to bring attention to the rest of the range. Just like Ferrari with the F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, meant as perks for top customers and to drive broader buyers to the production style vs limited.

It is such a perfect watch in many ways. The dial has so many faces, it is just incredible. And it is very precise as well, not to mention that you need to adjust it only once per year and still a piece with outstanding Rolex robustness.

I like that watch very much.

Other than monetary purposes, I wouldn’t trade my white dial for a blue, and I had my choice of all three. I don’t get it.

That being said, any Skydweller stainless is a show stopper.

I imagine blue is most people's fave colour, that's what most seem to say, and it is certainly more popular than white or grey on a sports watch. Black would rival it but it is rather common, and so blue is a little more unique and exclusive.

pretty sure in the case of multiple color variants they make less of the popular one. That way people buy what they get offered and they sell more of all 3 colors. So many people want one color and get offered another color and still buy it. Then they might even buy the color they wanted all along when that one finally comes in and Rolex just made 2 sales.

An AD told me that blue dials have the same effect on those who wear it as blue pills do on those who take it.

If you haven’t seen one in the flesh, I’d suggest taking a look at the milgauss z-blue dial. Really unique shade of blue.

I’ve been waiting for one for almost a year now. The blue dial is so much more attractive than the black, white or champagne dials.

That said, Rolex is causing a lot of bad feeling with their draconian sales practices. I’m rapidly reaching the point where my dislike of Rolex outweighs my desire for the Sky-Dweller.

If my wife ever gives me a budget on a luxury 'thing' there is NO DOUBT it will cost me double that (or more) in whatever she's trying to get!!! LOL

On the SkyDwellers - I don't think ANYONE has cracked the code on them...other than they're just not receiving them (stainless models) at the ADs often...that's where My two ADs are. One has received maybe 3-4 total since release and the other ZERO. I've heard all the 'rumors about not having enough movements, issues with case production all that...but no one really knows.

I do know this - it's 'easier' to get a 116500 than a Stainless SkyDweller from my ADs.

HAGWE all!
