Icon3 I need help to authenticate a Hulk

Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase a Submariner Date Hulk.
I've spoken to the AD it was purchased from and they weren't able to tell me whether it was purchased from there.
So here I am asking for your help as I'm new to this.
Hope this image helps!

I'm not sure what you want us to do from this photo.

I think there are rules here about authentication and valuation.

My advice would be that you need to buy the seller. If you trust them, they have good reviews, reviews from people in this community and are easy to deal with and will reassure you, then you have a good seller.

If you are rushing to buy this because of price, you need to tread carefully. These green subs trade at a level playing field premium. Snapping up a bargain can something be too good to be true.

The AD can't share customer data for obvious reasons too.

At a glance it looks fine, same as mine, but you would need to inspect the dial much more closely as a starting point.

The seller can easily show you all their paperwork (receipt, warranty card, etc). If they don’t, walk away.

That image doesn’t help authenticate the watch.

If the seller doesn’t have a long list of references and doesn’t have proof of the chain of ownership from the purchase at the AD, then move onward.

We are here to help but you have to set yourself up for it. It's 1 photo, not the greatest photo either.

Realistically, what were you expecting? How do you expect TRF to authenticate from 1 grainy from pretty far away photo and no other information

Have you checked the serial number or anything against the paperwork? It looks like it's all included in the photo.

The conventional wisdom "Buy the Seller" is one of the most important principles when buying pre-owned / secondary market.

Nowadays the super-clones are getting better and better. You have to be very careful.

In my opinion, if you do not buy direct from the AD, then the only way to 100% truly know if your watch is genuine is to examine the movement. Sadly, with Rolex, that means opening up the caseback and taking a detailed look at its intricate components, so you'd have to go to a legit, skilled watchmaker or a service center.

Of course, you can start by looking at the watch under loupe and making sure there are no glaring imperfections in the dial or dial apparatus, with great scrutiny at 10x or 20x magnification. A genuine Rolex will look essentially perfect under loupe. There are plenty of Youtube videos showing the distinction between genuine and fake. If you have a timegrapher, you can also check the accuracy and integrity of the movement to ensure that it meets technical standards of a genuine Rolex (very accurate, very little beat error, good amplitude, etc.) Also, a genuine warranty card will contain a hidden security feature under a black light (UV light) in the left upper quadrant. It's possible that the clone factories could counterfeit that feature too. It's a sad era for buyers who want genuine pieces but cant get them at an AD, and have to deal with possible fakes out in the wild.

When I bought my Omega AT and SMPc 300m, I got them from the secondary market and not straight from AD. I am able to see my 8800 caliber on the beautiful caseback, and I am 100% certain they are both legitimate. I tested them nevertheless with my timegrapher and under a loupe.

I'm also 100% certain my Grand Seiko is legit. Spring Drive is impossible to clone

Check the serial at 6 against the warranty card, hangtag and original sales receipt if available.

The green dial may allow seeing the etched crown as well in decent light. If you’re going to give someone 12k+ for a watch they shouldn’t mind you handling it a but in front if them.

Hold in your palm does it “feel” proper heft?

And then bounce the warranty card off of available photos posted on google images.

Someone recently posted a card with LN after 114060 which I’ve never seen or referred to the watch before as nor does my warranty card include; as an example of forgery

Pass the eye test, first
