When Roger Moore unzips a woman’s dress with his Submariner. Man with the Golden Gun.

That’s hard to beat.

Die Hard.

John McClane has just arrived at Nakatomi Plaza and is in Holly's office, waiting for her to come greet him. She comes in and Mr. Takagi and the total douche sales guy, Ellis, are with her.

They share pleasantries and then Ellis pompously says "show him the watch." Holly politely says maybe later, and then Ellis replies "what are you embarrassed? Show him the watch." He looks to John and makes a total snob face while saying "it's's a Rolex."

The emphasis is on "it's a Rolex" and even if you've never seen the movie you can just imagine in your head how the douchiest, smarmiest guy would say that phrase! We laugh out loud every time we watch the movie at Christmas.

13 hours….Tyrone Woods wearing a Rolex submariner throughout where you see it highlighted several times. The real Tyrone Woods was an ex SEAL who wore a Sea Dweller and actually posted here once looking for advice.

American Psycho. I know it actually wasn't a Rolex, but still. Only reason I kinda want a TT DJ.

For a reasonable price you can't do better!

Another vote for Die Hard (a movie I saw in the theater, not far from the real-life building).

I did enjoy the Pussy Galore GMT wrist shot in “Goldfinger.”

Wait, what’s the story behind American Psycho watch not being real?

As a native westsider, Die Hard also strikes a chord with me as well; however, my all-time favorite Rolex moment took place in 1974 in my favorite Steve McQueen movie, The Towering Inferno, when McQueen, while wearing his iconic stainless steel Submariner, ripped Paul Newman’s character about the building code in the elevator car ride up to Newman’s office on the 79th floor. They simply don’t make movies like they used to.

Yes, but it was “Live and Let Die”….he does consult his Submariner in “Man With the Golden Gun”, but the Q branch altered Sub was used in Roger Moore’s first 007 film.

For satire, two scenes from Die Hard.

First, when Ellis says "It's a Rolex."

And second, when John unhooks the Rolex from Holly's wrist and Gruber goes flying.

I read a funny behind the scenes story about the filming of that last Die Hard scene. The look of terror on Alan's face was real!

When they were setting up that stunt on the set, Alan Rickman was afraid of heights but he really wanted to do the shot himself. He was supposed to fall about 40 feet onto a big crash pad in front of a green screen. They agreed that they would count to 3 before cutting the line to give Alan some warning before he fell.

When actually filming the scene, the director and stunt coordinator cut the line on the count of 1, so as you watch him fall he's genuinely surprised and terrified that he's falling!

"Die Hard's ending was made even better by an on-set prank"

Absolutely, great Rolex scenes throughout.

Another one is Christmas Vacation, the lingerie scene where Chevy Chase is hitting on the beautiful sales gal
