Are Ads supposed to supply an extra link if needed?

My recent purchase at the AD and they refused to supply an extra link free.

Purchased a CHNR last Saturday and a BLRO a year ago--had to purchase a link for both.

That’s a negative. If you need any additional links than what comes standard then you are on the hook for it.

I think you can get the right sized oyster flex, but if you need an additional link in the steel or metal bracelet, I would assume you'd have to pay.

Gold links are surprisingly expensive.

I had 2 links added to my BLRO, 1 link added to my White Daytona and 1 link added to my LV Sub and I did not pay for any of these links.

Am sure your AD would be happy to supply them. How many did you buy?

AD's are not obligated to provide an extra link free of charge; however, it wouldn't be out of the question for them to do so. I really think it all depends on your relationship with them.

If you are a long time and loyal customer, they might provide a SS link (about $80CDN) if needed to fit your wrist, but a Rolesor or PM link would be more unlikely as those can get expensive. And to be clear, this is only if you need the link to get a proper fit, not because you just want an extra link to keep as a spare.

The watches come with a certain amount of links. If you need more, you will have to pay.

Previous times two other ADs provided the links for free. At $230 a link I’m not totally happy with them.

My experience is that if the bracelet needs a link to fit, then it comes with the watch. Beyond that, you'll most likely have to pay.

When I bought my 116200-63600 in 2009, I told the resident watchmaker that the watch would need an extra link for warm weather and he provided one, with the admonition that it is only free if it's necessary and he could see that it would be necessary, because who wants a watch they can only wear in certain weather.

The Super Jubilee, not having any micro-adjustments, was an easier sell, I would guess.

I like my bracelets loose, so he installed it at that time, so it always fits, but sometimes it's tighter and sometimes looser, but either way, it fits.

Such was not the case with any of my watches with Oyster bracelets, all of which fit well enough that micro-adjustments are all that is necessary.

Nothing is free, particularly from a Rolex AD.

This has been my past experience as well. IMO when buying a high dollar watch you shouldn't have to pay out to make it fit you properly.

It’s at their discretion and cost.
Standard practice is to charge as they it’s chargeable to them.

Go to the other AD then in future if you prefer them.

Things used to be a lot different than they are now, and it’s only right at that cost that you have to pay really
It’s because of your wrist size. Others may not need links due to smaller wrists, so why should you get extra ones for free?

Assuming it was the two-tone DJ you just posted, you can't really blame them for charging you for a link. At least you got chocs and sparkling water.

I never paid for SS extra links, it is up to the AD. I do not own any PM or TT watches but I would expect to pay for extra links for those.
