287 vs 210

If the price differential between the two for BNIB is $600 - which would you get?

For me the price difference is even narrower since the 287 comes with an original croc strap - which is worth about $300.

Which would you get?

if that's a every day wear and your only PAM, then i would go with 287 since auto with date is much easier to live with as a DD

but to me, the 210 looks much better and looks much more historic, better balance on the dial

up to you :-)

+1

I had a 210, but missed having a second hand.

287. It is thicker, automatic, date with a nice croc strap with deployant.

I'd go with 210... just pure base...

Thanks guys for all your comments.

I'm considering a PAM for my wife, and the 210 seems to have the simple look she likes.

Here are some "pros/cons" of each.

210
Lower price.
Sandwich dial.
Simple look that my wife likes.
Is a base and nice match for my zero.
Clear back.

287
Auto - which my wife likes.
She doesn't care for the date, but its nice.
She doesn't care for the seconds hand.
Croc strap and deployment - worth some money.
I dislike the cyclops and the words "automatic".
No clear back.
No sandwich.

The 287 seems to be the better "value" buy, but in terms of looks, I think she would prefer the 210. I guess the price differential can be used to offset a few nice straps.

Tough choices - but I'm enjoying the hunt!

The one thing besides a discount I always got was a second strap from the AD. Most straps have marks from being displayed. The deployant I can't argue - that's money. However, looking at it that way, there are more economical watches to begin with. I have 210 and the winding is a bit of a WIS thing. Others prefer the auto feature. Me personally, never liked the date glue on piece of glass much, even though growing on me.

For practical & busy person, 287 (auto) is the choice.
183 is also another option for manual winding.

210 for sure! You can never go wrong with a historic.
