P90x

For those of you that have or are using this workout program, what are your thoughts? What kind of results are you getting? Losing weight, gaining muscle mass etc. Thanks.

I've reviewed it; no reason it shouldn't work. If you aren't in great shape already, you might consider a few weeks of "burpies", basically squat thrust with a pushup and jump. I think the guys from 300 did something similar.

That is amazing. I am on my second week of the classic version and was concerned I would just put on muscle mass. I would love to drop as much weight as you or more. Are you doing the eating plan and if so which one? When you say you are on your second round, do you mean you have done the 90 days once already? Thanks.

I know three people who have tried the P90X. They were all in relatively good shape before they started it. Two said it worked great for them. One said it was just OK.

She said she followed the plan just the way she was supposed to, but who knows

I have been in lousy shape for a while. Did the stationary bike for 3 months for 40 minutes at least 3 times a week and that was okay. It is my second week on P90X and it is kicking my tail. I seem to be sore most of the time. Thanks.

Yes, I was done with the first 90 days "classic" and started the "lean" version.
I am looking at what I eat and how many calories different food has...it is a habit now and it is right, you have to eat good quality food if you work out hard.

If you stick with it you will lose as much weight as you want too and gain a lot of new energy!

There is a great app for the iPhone called "lose it". It tracks food calories and nutrition and is very easy to use.

My wife and I use P90X and really like it, but we don't follow the diet plan.

It is simply one more program. There are plenty of exercise programs (esp. free ones) and any thought out program will produce whatever type of results you are looking to make. Just pick whatever it is you want to do: Lose weight, build muscle or a combo of both. All it takes is 12 weeks, a well rounded routine with proper rest and nutrition and a dedicated intent.

For the same price, I would much rather have a couple of months with a gym to take daily classes and use their expensive equipment. Muscle confusion is an old training method and certainly not exclusive to p90x.

I used to program for almost 2 months and it does give you real results if you stick with it, unfortunately due to my work schedule Well let me not make excuses. Yes the program is intense, just pace yourself and as mentioned above do only what you can do without hurting yourself. You will see results!

"lose it" is outstanding. If you use it without any other activities you will lose weight big time as well. It is such a great application

When I first started training I followed Bill Phillips 'Body For Life' programme.

In my opinion, & indeed my (not inconsiderable) experience: it's as good as anything out there.

Me too my friend!!
& a great basic principle for strength &/or mass certainly; but IMO these 'P90/x' type programmes are aimed more at 'beginners & toners'.

(although I'm massively open to correction by any experienced trainers that have reaped benefits from the regime?)

I use it in addition to my normal lifting program. What I like about it is that it helps me train in ways that I normally wouldn't. It relies on a lot of core work, stretching, yoga and combines it all with cardio.
The ab program is pretty intense as well.

Just remember, no matter what program you choose, if you don't eat right you aren't going to get the results you're looking for.
