If you are looking for something a little more common they i would get the datejust, but if you wasnt to be distinctive its the milguass all the way..you def dont see many of those on someones wrists.

other than looks you may want to consider the weight of both watches plus An Occassional stare by on-lookers being surprised by the green crystal if you wear the GV :)

As there are so many variations of the DJII, it depends. If you're interested in a two tone, then the DJII is the obvious choice. If you're interested in something SS, the GV get (got) my money. It has a combination of subtle details that I really enjoy.
It's an added bonus to not see a GV 8-10 times a day on others' wrists too. I enjoy owning something just a little different.

between those two, GV....if you were asking about baton dial DJIIs (especially the blue), i think it'd be a coin flip between whichever speaks to you more.

Milgauss hands down. It feels great on the wrist. Good weight. As others have said, you don't see them everywhere. I have the white faced one and the thing makes me smile every time I put it on. Nothing cheesy about the second hand either - it actually makes it interesting. I think it's a fantastic watch for any occasion.
Good luck! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1338563444.950119.jpg |

If you can live without the date feature, go for GV because of it's uniqueness.

Depending on what your style is.. I like the DJ2 and own one.. I love the GV MIL as well though! I think if you are more of a sporty person who still dresses up, I think the GV MIL will be perfect for you... It is your first Rolex, so don't get something you don't like!!!
If you have to sit at the AD all day and all night on the forums to decide, then do it... Also, do your homework on the brand... You might find something intriguing about a certain model that you like... Anyway GoodLucK !

Forget the comparison to a Milgauss, that watch you just described is an incomparable beauty. In fact, just mentioning it on this thread will require a visit to your AD for a cleaning and polishing.

I've owned both and I only miss the Milguass, given the choice for me it is GV all the way.

I had a Milgauss, but i missed the date.
If you can live without the date, i think the milgauss would fit you. I never liked the little crown on the DJ2, thats why I flipped the milgauss for a Subc date. The DJ2 should have the same crown as te Milgauss for better looks imo. |

Owned both, I chose a similar dial in the 116300 as you can see. That'a good compromise if you like the Milgauss but want a date.
Of those I liked the Milgauss better, today I'd go for a GV.

DJII...gotta love the green roman numerals!!!
Had the GV before, flipped it for an LV. Just feel that a watch needs to have date.

It is all relative
Well, to be honest I've rarely seen an unattractive Rolex.
It's what you are looking for that matters. This is your first, no? Will you be happy with anything less than that classic Rolex look? Will you feel like you truly own a Rolex if it has not that "distinctive look" Then the GMII is the obvious choice. When you've satisfied that quest, branch out. Grab an Omega or two. Shop a vintage _____. I own some collectibles and contemporaries as well. I wondered what piece I could next obtain to satiate my watch "Jones" and decided on the Milgauss and could not be happier. I love the white face and orange numeral bars. And a thunderbolt second hand to boot... Show me a better way to say, "Yeah, it's a Rolex...ever seen another like it?" Pretty cool, eh? It's "Sporty," but I can where it with a blue suit or blazer as comfortably as I can with blue jeans and a T-Shirt. Great watch!!! |

I chose Milgauss GV but the DJII is a great choice too, quite different watches IMHO. I'm looking forward to the new blue dial GV
