Icon11 Inside my Rolex

I took this on a tripod with the shutter timer set. I didn't step back far enough and the cyclopian 'eye' caught me!

Anyone please tell me how reflections on the sapphire crystal can be minimised?
I took this in natural light, but I still get the reflection of the camera.

I changed the angle of the watch/camera and this seemed to help a bit on this one:

I've given it lots of trial and error [mostly error]. Any advice would be appreciated.
Steve

I haven't seen any of your works CJ. They can't be that bad?

I htink experimentation is the keyword. Either that or beg a hint from the Jedi Master himself?

"I spy with my little eye" the cyclops seems to be saying!

It's a good pic, Steve, but you've got light coming in from the back and bouncing off the crystal. Taking pics of Rollies (which don't have AR coating) is a bit more difficult than the watches which have this treatment. With Rollies, the crystal bounces light like hell, so a simple home-made light box would help.

The box prevents light from behind reaching the crystal.

Cheers - JJ

Steve you can always try cutting a hole in a black piece of paper to act as a reflector card. Nice shots though pal, keep 'em coming.

Thanks JJ. I assume that a light box is just a black box?

Yep...and with a hole at one end through which you stick the lens.
