Icon20 WG Submariner 116619

Hello to all,

Thought would share my feelings and experience about the new wg sub. My pics are not very good, professional photos and review can be found on John Holbrook internet site under

http://www.rolexreferencepage.com/11...619review.html

I bought this watch 4 months ago and now it is my only watch and my daily wearer. I dont really plan to buy another watch because I think it is okay either with casual or formal dress.

Photos (maybe Holbrook photos yes) do not reflect the true blue colour of the dial and bezel. When you take photos of it with normal compact cameras the blue will always come out lighter than actually it is. I put some smurfs next to it to show that actual smurf colour is much much lighter blue but photo doesnt come through very well. So my advice is not to "burry" this watch until you see it in person. It is a very very nice, interesting and unique blue colour.

Weight - I am not a small guy but have to admit that it takes time to get used to its around 220 gr weight. After 4 months it is okay now but even now sometimes I feel "it would be nice if could be little bit lighter". You have to wear it tight otherwise when walking it is moving up and down, causing little discomfort after a while.

PCL - Polished links in general are very prone to scratches, these gold PCLs are even more. They pick up scratches superfast, but I dont really care about them as I dont want to spend time worrying about inevitable scratches.

Clasp - This clasp is superb. The outside part is much longer than the new Daytona-GMTIIc clasp. It just looks fantastic to me and the glidelock feature is very practical. I had to take out one link from the 6 and one link from the 12 side and then it was easy to adjust it to be perfectly comfortable. I couldnt do it with the Daytona and GMTIIc earlier.

1 good new feature is that you can adjust the date independently from the hours.

As I see lot of people dont like this watch because wg looks like ss. Well, I like the feeling that I am wearing a gold watch without shouting it to the whole world. Specially my be useful if you dont want to tell your wife the real price of your watch. If she is not interested in watches will never know that your new watch is not a summer edition steel submariner...

Awesome watch. People that know rolex will know right away that it is WG version since blue dial & bezel only comes on that model. It makes it unique.
Enjoy

I believe it. I've never seen one in person yet, but I have a feeling I'll like the color. From Holbrook's photos (especially the second one in the link) I must admit I really like the blue hue.

Wow, with the stainless, two tone with serti and the LV in my collection, this would complete the run. Savings begin now!

Blue Bezel !!

Nice review.. I like your opinion about wearing a WG watch that will appear as SS for non expert Rolex people.

Can any one tell me if the Blue in WG model the same as in the SG model ?

In my opinion if Rolex engineers used the old Cobalt Blue from the 16613 models on the new 116613 Sub WG would be much more elegant.. can you imagine this combination !

Beautiful watch, seems to have much more presence than other Subs. Have tried this one on a couple of times and love the weight

Love the 'Team Smurf' pic
