I like it! I am a big fan of special, solid case backs like this. And the logo on the dial, the human torpedo, makes it more special. The titanium is a great choice for the case, I have a 562 and love the titanium. I'm not crazy about the small seconds at 9 o'clock, though, but could certainly live with it.

i like it a lot, especially the case back. The dial however, i don't get it. Whats that got to do with london?

Is it a london edition on the back and an italian navy edition on the front? I might have tried to buy it otherwise as im a sucker for editions related to cities i have a connection with

I saw this on FB last night and I must say I am very impressed with it. It has all the features in a 44mm Panerai that I love. I'd personally prefer not to see the seconds dial at 9 but you can't ever have everything.

I like it and if I had a connection to London I might be a buyer if I could get my hands on one.

All of the boutique editions are "standard" up front, "engraved" on the back.

What's good here is that you get London on the back with an 8-day movement with no "8 DAYS" on the front. I also think the ecru lume looks good with the Ti case.

i meant the human torpedo thing on the front which would make it non standard, no?. Im not all that familiar with all the various non standard models but the regular models i have looked at previously don't have it. i could have done without that if its not part of the london theme. I quite like the city engraving on the back. Still a very nice looking piece though

The SLC (Siluro, a Lenta Corsa) is a "classic" Panerai element on several previous limited editions, so, in that sense, it signifies on the front that this model is "special".

ahh. ok then. The ones sitting in the boutique i try on are the ones available and clearly not special editions. Haven't seen that before

AFAIK, there is no "rule" as to when Panerai puts the SLC on the dial. It's relatively rare, but I don't know why and when. ;-)

EDIT: here's some info: https://www.horobox.com/en/news-detail/torpedo-dial

It’s on the 425 regular production PAM 425...as you say, it’s also on a bunch of boutique only SEs...the London dial is not st all unique, but obviously the engraving on the back is what makes this PAM different from others with the exact same dial...

so between this and the 233 and assuming you had a strong connection to london what would you get?

The 233 has always been the PAM i have said i would get when i finally got one. However i really don't need another dual time watch, so functionality aside whats the better option?

Probably a one and only PAM

Also, is it really going to be "available"? 100 seems like a very low run so that isnt a positive to me as far as the decision.

233 without any question, if budget isn't a concern: dome + power reserve indicator + GMT + strap change buttons...it's a more compelling watch, IMHO, and a Panerai classic.

By comparison, having an engraving against my wrist doesn't do as much for me. ;-)

I bought a 233 a few months ago. It's become my daily. I sold my other Pam, the LE 390 and I'm selling my Tudor Big Block. It is truly a special watch. The dome, the functions (Ive got dot dial), the 44mm 1950 case, the sandwich dial and the ability to change straps make it a great all-rounder.

yeah, its always been the one for me and i have tried it on several times. For some reason the LE is intriguing though. Probably would wear off as ive been considering the 233 for several years. Probably pop into the boutique anyway to see if they have the london edition to try on though.

LE's from any brand drive me nuts as it encourages impulse buys, and thats what im afraid of

tried it on... IRL its really, really nice. Loved the lightness and the brushed case is exactly what i like. I actually did like the human torpedo on the dial when i saw it, and it blends in really well so its not super noticeable anyway.

Tried on the 233 at the same time and i know i like that one a lot too... however i absolutely do not need another GMT/dual time watch as im getting way too repetitive with that complication.

In the end the London edition won out and trying them side by side was helpful. i felt was the best Pam to be my first Pam. Pricing was considerably less so that was a factor too. My 8 year journey in London is coming to an end soon and back to the states, so it seemed appropriate.

Just waiting now. End of the month, or early november. They only had 1 at the boutique and it was not for sale.

Congratulations. These Panerai are rather addictive. Looking forward to the incoming.

Definitely not a hater, I own several. My take is that this is re-visiting a previous edition - 416, 417, 414, etc... from long ago. I concede there are differences, but my concern is that Panerai isn't innovating. This is a re-run.

they didn't act like it last weekend. They just said, pay a deposit to get the first allocations and didn't say you better pay a deposit or you wont get it. Being its London, i would imagine its selling out though but its not prominently displayed in the boutique (its hiding in the corner behind a desk) and not a lot of people even know about it

I like it a lot, however i know nothing about what the market or demand is even like for a Panerai LE. The fact it might have been a hassle to get was a negative to me, but it turned out to be ok. So if it sells out or not, i will be happy to own it all the same.
