hi there,
just want to get honest and objective feedbacks re the glass sapphire crystal of your panerai?does it easily gets scratch or hairlines,dots on it?especially on the date area?and what do you do if there are annoying imperfections on the crystal?can it be buff?its usual 44mm is kinda prone with bumps around when we are wearing it.i love panerai and like its style and the history that goes with it.just like honest to goodness actual experience re panerai sapphire crystal...thanks

A sapphire crystal is the same on any watch except of possible AR coatings. It is made of synthetic sapphire crystals and their physical properties are set by nature.

Sapphire cannot be buffed.
Sapphire is hard to scratch, but once it is, it is scratched.
If an AR coating is on the outside of the watch it will eventually be rubbed off. The inside will be fine.
If you are really worried about it, they only cost about $200 to replace.

thanks for your reply giving me info.yep im familiar with those info.by the way im more enlightened now as i went to my panerai AD here in manila and my concerns re the issue has been answered.panerai reverse cyclops on those models that has date on it are really like that and not problem.i checked it out.and yes all panerai sapphire crystal is as strong and durable like other quality watches.im enlightened now.

i believe my pam 287 crystal is corundum......which apparently, the next hardest is a diamond. that help?

I've never had any problems with the crystals on any Panerai I've owned.

My ex-250 have a scratches in the crystal. That's why I sold it.

Maybe the first owner crush that crystal with diamond.

Mine scratched after a whole lot of 10mn. Accidental bump on a door handle. Not impressed.

I don't believe Panerai uses a crystal any different from Rolex or any other manufacture.
