I need to check out these uncle seiko bracelets. They look terrific

Anybody compared the Apollo 50th to the uncle seiko version? Wondering how big the quality drop off is, because the price is really good on the US

Hi, nice watch and great photos.
For the purpose of the title of this thread please let me delve a bit.

I used to own a 2531.80 which was very very pleasing on the eye & comfortable to wear.

Omega have been quite ambitious with their changes for the new SMP range.

Personally I think Omega would attract more customers to the SMP range if they did the following changes.

Correct the imbalance between the winder and conical HSV sizes and shape, enough said on this.
Move the date window back to the 3 o’clock position and have a nice white border around it.

I am still not convinced on the waves or the laser dial, I think the changes were too radical from the 2220.80 model, Omega could have introduced smaller changes changes to an already really nice design.

My thoughts after owning four SMPs over the years.

1) The HE valve doesn’t bother me when on the wrist. In fact, I don’t even notice it. Photos seem to magnify it. Having said that, I’d be good with Omega removing it although I doubt it’ll happen as it’s a signature “feature” of the SMP.

2) I disagree on the date location. I much prefer the 6:00 position on the new model. The dial looks more balanced.

3) I love the laser etched waves on the dial. It gives the dial more depth and a more premium look IMO.

These are just my opinions of course!

I agree. The date at 6:00 position is a HUGE improvement. The laser etched waves are excellent. It would be a mistake to go backwards.

I agree, except that the HE valve does bother me. I also would be ok with them removing it. Like you, I doubt it will happen.

Yep, Yep & Yep

In fact points 2 and 3 were the main reasons I picked one up vs the previous generation. Also love the 42 mm size which is perfect for my wrist

It’s the Apollo 50th anniversary bracelet with what I believe are uncle seiko end links.

Beautiful pics and a great watch . I have the blue version and have switched from the bracelet to the black rubber strap instead of the blue one. I find the black rubber strap has a better contrast with the blue dial.

The two things in my humble opinion that I think would have made this the perfect watch for me:

1 I wish the shade of blue was darker and the same as the previous 2012 ceramic
seamaster. I own the earlier 2012 ceramic blue version and love the blue on it. The new 2018 version watch always look rich in colour in the shade compared to in sunlight that gives it a more pastel blue hue.

2. I wish the ceramic wave ridges were the same colour as the rest of the dial instead of the white shade which makes the waves too prominent as opposed to subtle. Love how the white dial looks more subdued and makes the watch dial look more formal and more like the original seamaster waves.

Loving the color combination on my new 300M Tokyo 2020 edition. Great contrast between dial and bezel.

This thread is so great. Black, blue, white, you can’t go wrong. And that Tokyo bezel & matching blue hands - chefs kiss!

So happy to have joined this club a few months ago

I like the HE valve and the stock bracelet on mine. Both give the watch the sturdy tool watch look that I was after when I purchased my 300M. I also like the symmetry of the new date location.
