300M accuracy

I am thinking on adding another Omega to the herd. I am looking at the 42mm 300M (blue) 210.30.42.20.03.001. It has the 8800 movement. As I read, a lot of people love this watch/ It is to be my daily wearer. I am curious as to the accuracy owners are getting from this watch/movement?

My PO 8500 is about +2,
my 41.5 SMP chronograph (3330) is +2,
My AT 41 (8900) is +.5
and my old speedmaster date (1164) is +2.

I am hoping the 8800 is in the same ball park?

Yeah, you're about right with your assumption.

Good to hear. I went ahead and purchased the watch and a rubber band to go along with it. I posted a picture on what omega your wearing today. I set the date and synchronized the time. I will track it for my usual 2 weeks and then forget about it. Thanks for the replies.

Great watch BTW. very capable and comfortable to boot. And the new clasp....WOW! I wish all my Omega's had that easy adjust bracelet.

I reset my 300M on March 15th because of Daylight Savings. It is currently running one minute fast so that's about 15 seconds a month.

I currently have five 300's and the average is about plus one a day. The accuracy is a big plus.

That's good to hear of such great accuracy . I set mine yesterday and will monitor the results. It's not even been 24 hours yet, but looks promising so far! I might add that the lume is fantastic and was still glowing this morning. Awesome.

Update:
Day one. The first 24 hours of running and it's already .5 seconds fast. Guess I will just have to live with it.

2 week update

Okay I have been running my new Omega 300M (8800) for 12 days none stop on the wrist. Never removing the watch.

It is exactly 2.6664 seconds slow or daily average of -.2222 SPD. Now I done the math and if I have calculated this correctly(someone check), In JUST 270 days from the time I set it my watch will be just shy of 1 minute slow. Or 1.3517 minutes slow per year. So it's running slow, but I think I can live with it.

Once again, Purchased a new Omega that provides excellent time keeping. Very impressed and pleased.

If you take it off, it should speed up a touch. Mine run fast about 3-5 seconds per day in my box but are pretty close to dead nuts accurate on.

I measured mine using the Toolwatch app.
+0.0sec/day over 5 days. Perfect.
Only other one of my watches which does that is my Blancpain FF bathyscaphe chrono.

So I’m very pleased with my Seamaster.

if i wear my seamaster 300m cal 8800 for the day, which for me means putting it on before i leave for work and taking off right before i know its time to get some sleep, i average +2 secs a day, maybe slightly under. as trippinjimmy said above, off the wrist it will run a little faster. Im also real consistent with how i lay it down to rest at night, i put my polishing cloth between the caseback and bracelet and lay it dial up.

this is my first nice mechanical watch and im very impressed with it, ive had some knocks on door handles and i do all my daily activities with it on and its been excellent so far, very proud to own it and i think its more or less impossible to do better at this pricepoint

"Runs faster off the wrist" I have noticed this to be significant with some brands. But I have also noticed that with the 8500, 8900 and definitely the 8800 that the variance was not much at all. It doesn't seem to be as position sensitive as the Rolex's I have owned. My Breitling's could vary by as much as 2 seconds over night. (B17) but would correct it self during the following day. My Rolex variance was such that I could correct it by position at night or a few nights to get it back on track.(3235) But the Omega 8800 variance is so slight it's hardly noticeable from day to day. Great movement.

My 8900 PO does not seem to gain when off the wrist overnight when dial up. Mine to runs a fraction of a second slow each day on the wrist. I am one that sleeps with it on usually as well.

First month accuracy update

I am pleased to announce that after 1 month of continuous running on the wrist it has averaged. .192307 seconds per day slow. However I must add that most of the time deviation was in the first 3 days of wearing. If I took that in consideration, the last 21 days averaged -.09528 spd.

If it held that, that's about -35 seconds per year. This is amazing to me that a mechanical watch can be this accurate. I have checked it at different times throughout a 24 hour period and it just does not vary. Not enough that I can even detect it. Truly a outstanding movement.

It's incredible what watch companies can achieve these days with regards to movement performance. Omega tops my list personally with their innovations and durability testing. That watch looks great and will serve you well for many years to come!

Rommel, I agree 100%. They have set a standard I think that a lot of watch buyers have not realized yet. They do set the bar high. VERY high.

Indeed! They solved every problem pretty much that could create objections with potential buyers. It's nice to finally have an amagnetic mechanical watch with a sapphire case back and near Quartz accuracy among a multitude of other things.

no much about luck. you just have to rest it in proper position. wear it sometimes on the left some times on the right.

i left it resting crown up for a week and it speed up +60 sec/day

Very accurate. About -1 per day. But after its been sitting for a while
While less accurate. Often better after a reset after 24/48h if that makes sense.

My PO 8900 loses around a second a day. I just let it sit for the first time face up for 3 days with a wind for good measure after a day or so and it has gained 4 seconds. Probably would self correct at night but I am one of those lazy people who sleep with my watch on.

My 42 AT 8900 was about -1.5 for the first week or so when I first got it. Then it seems each week after it got a little better. After about 3 months it settled to -.5 a day and stayed that way the rest of the time I owned it.
